Better than expected
After more than 35 years sailing I finally found the perfect anchor. My boat is as 42 footer and the Mantus Mk 45 was the perfect choice.

Great anchor!
1st time boater in coastal GA. Needed a 2nd anchor and this came to me via recommendation. Great anchor. Sets every time almost immediately and holds firm in the ever changing tides around here. A little pricey compared to others, but worth it. I would recommend to anyone.

No good
Will not hold a 25ft Chaparral. Just lies on its side and drags along the bottom. Even with 5ft of 1/2 chain. Buy the M1, totally worth the money

Great Customer service!!!
Anchor was awesome but unfortunately it didn't fit my boat. Mantus was excellent at working with me and great customer service.

Resets quick
Good holding power and resets quick on the swing. Watched it through a 180 degree wind shift with a cold front. Anchor barely moved before digging back in.

New to anchoring. So far so good.
I chose this anchor basically based on the reviews of the M1 and on faith that it was equivalent or better in performance. So far it has set immediately in mud sand and heavy grass bottoms here in the PNW. I bought the 17lb for my San Juan 23 sailboat which weights approximately 3000 to 3500 lbs loaded for 3 people. The anchor is paired with 20' of 5/16" chain and 1/2" Braided Nylon anchor rode. The last time out I anchored in heavy grass from the bow with this anchor (reversing to set) and from the stern with an 11lb danforth (rowed out and dropped, hand set by pulling on line from stern) and I dove on both. Scope was probably around 5/1 at the time for both. The Mantus appeared to be only getting started but did not appear to be buried that well. Chain was fully on the bottom with 10mph winds above and it looked positioned to keep digging. The danforth was dug in surprisingly well. I'm going to guess that I just wasn't able to pull on the Mantus hard enough to get it to dig farther. I will update when I have more experience with this anchor. I want to try in other bottom conditions soon. I'm hoping I can up this rating to 5 stars.
