How would this perform on a moving gate in Carribean outside environment

I've found that the amount of ambient light really affects its range. In the dark its range can be 15 to 20 ft, but it barely works at all in bright sunlight. I tried to use it to measure the distance between a car and the sensor in a very small garage, but when the sunlight was coming in the garage it just didn't work.

Can anyone find the socket information for this module? I.e. to make a new cable of desired length from scratch without cutting/splicing

Sensor excelente para navegación en ambientes dificilies

Excelente sensor. Depende tu aplicación si deseas detectar ubicaciones muy puntuales excelente. Si deseas detectar algo con una apertura amplia sería su punto debil. Excelente comportamiento en ambiente a pleno sol.
