Would this fit an Apple Pencil?

I don't believe it will. Might be too long to fit.

would a large sized handgun fit in this pouch

No, just tested it with a mid-sized 9mm Springfield XD-9 and couldn't close the pouch. Certainly wouldn't fit a larger model.

I see that this attaches to a should strap however its hard for me to imagine how. I have a maxpedition gridflux. Would it attach to the slingstrap?
