Works like a good quality item should work
This is a great can opener! Only time will tell but this seems very well designed and well built. It does just what it claims, opens a can easily and leaves no ridge to cut yourself on around the inside of the can. It's not one of those that takes the whole top off, the seam is still left on the can. But it is smooth and clean. Works great in my hands. Granted they are larger than most, but I don't have to put out much effort to make it work. Unlike the last model I got that stripped the tops of the gear teeth on the first can. I am a former transmission builder so I know at least a little bit about gears meshing or not... It costs more to return than it is worth. This one however has not given me any sign of giving up and after a month of use, it is still doing a great job. The handles and turning knob are larger than normal and that makes it much easier to grip. I have no complaints and that is saying something...

Loser in a Three Horse Race
Every year for Christmas the grandchildren and parents arrive for either my spaghetti or my chili. Either requires opening many cans and many hours of slicing vegetables. Horror of horrors my can opener broke after many years of service and I was forced into visiting one of those stores mounted on a wall (a'hem) and I bought the Oxo Good Grips can opener. (An Amazon "choice" selection). Then, in a fit of determination to NEVER have to deal with the problem of last minute nonsense again, I came here to Amazon and bought the Belinix opener and the Kitchen Aid Sangria opener. The Oxo is solid. The Kitchen Aid is spectacular. So in a three horse race the ranking is 1) Kitchen Aid - smooth as buttermilk and has a handle my wife likes 2) OXO - a solid performer and works very well 3 - 32) There you can fill in as you choose 33) the Belinix - I have tried now on three separate occasions to like this opener, including ten minutes ago. It leaves ragged edges on the lid. It climbs out of the cut ! It cannot even pierce the seal on a small diameter lid. My wife cannot turn the handle. I went to Vietnam in the infantry in 1968. We used to have a tiny opener (still made!) designated the P-38 that we would wear on our dog chain for opening C-Rations. My P38 opened cans better than the Belinix. I say that without even the slightest bit of rancor or hyperbole. I really wanted to like this opener. I have tried hard to like it. But it is in a word, appalling. Fortunately, Augusta County in Virginia accepts scrap metal at the landfill. This opener will be there shortly. Mine came with a handy little gizmo for pulling pop-tops off soda cans, etc. My wife likes that because it is easier on her fingers. But the opener itself? A dreadful failure. I will now buy another Kitchen Aid Sangria.

A great can opener for weak or arthritic hands
My long search for a good can opener is over. This is IT. I was really surprised that buying a can opener turned out to be such a long and involved process - years past, I grabbed one at the supermarket for 59 cents (it WAS a long time ago) and that was it. After about 25 years of loyal service, my old can opener was lost in a move and thus began my quest. This can opener is safe, easy to use and does the job, which is more that can be said for the electric, manual and battery-run can openers that preceded it. The hand grip actually is easy to use, a vast improvement over the heroic efforts it took me to budge that of the manual can opener supposedly designed specifically for arthritic hands. The lids of cans are jagged, but unlike those produced by the electric opener, you can't cut down trees with them. And this one is safe, unlike the battery-run gizmo that only stopped running when the batteries were ejected - a process that risked the removal of one or more of my fingers.

Awesome can opener!
I have been looking for 'just the right' can opener for several months, as ours has rusted and gotten dropped and dented... I found this one and read the reviews, researched it on other sites, etc... and it's AWESOME!! It is living up to it's review status -- really easy to use (and I have arthritis), I love the feel of it and how it handles in my hand. I am also a lefty so not everything works right with the way I hold them. This is also simply to clean and feels very durable. My review is BUY IT, it's dependable, and win win!!

Very Good with a Non-Slip Grip
It's a can opener, of course. Just keep in mind, user error can play a part in how easy the can opens. My first can, I did not open it correctly because the jaw has to pierce the top just right. If you try it and it doesn't seem to open the can up right or you're putting a lot of effort into it, stop, redo the pierce in another spot, and it should work. What I like: The magnet, the ease of use, the cost is priced right, and the beautiful color. The magnet keeps the lid from disappearing into the food. Most manual can openers I come across do not have that feature. What I think needs work: The smooth edge opening is not as smooth. Just don't feel around thinking it is. And, practice makes perfect. It just means you have to learn the product to eliminate user error. I would highly recommend this regardless of its small flaws. Bottom Line: I recommend this product hands down!

Only lasts a month before nearly unuseable
(Edited Review) I've had the can opener for a month and 7 days now, and the last several times I've went to open cans it's been SO HARD to turn the handle once it's clamped on. Even my husband has commented to me about how hard it is and that it's a junk can opener. A can opener should last more than a month! Ever dollarstore one's last that long and they are $10 cheaper. Here's my original review from the first week of having it. Such a big change in just a month. **It's got a nice sturdy weight and feel to it. I've only used it a few times, but it seems nice. Easy to turn the handle. It's a bit bigger than the average can opener, but I think that makes it easier on your hands.*

Best can opener
Best can opener!!! Excellent quality, very easy to use, great grip. I'm really liking this Belinix manual can opener. This can opener is super heavy duty and very good quality. The blades on the can opener are very sharp and made from stainless steel, while the handles are extremely comfortable to hold and made from a smooth material that even when your hands are wet or sweaty your grip is still firm and your hands don't slip. I couldn't be happier with this product and highly recommend it,if you are looking for a manual can opener.

It's a can opener
I read the reviews. I purchased because of the reviews. Am I pleased NO NO NO It's a can opener. I have yet to open any can on the first go around. If you have arthritis or any hand ailment that compromises you in having a sturdy pressured grip this ban opener is NOT for you. My husband and I have both tried over a dozen cans and not once has the lid removed without getting a utensil, lifting the lid and then twisting the lid to remove it from the small piece if aluminum its stuck to. Not just one can, each and every can. I wish I had not made this purchase. I do not recommend this can opener to anyone at all
