Minka-Aire F845-DK Light Wave 44" Ceiling Fan with LED Light and Remote Control in Distressed Koa Finish

Recently purchased this fan in a different color (distressed koa) for a bedroom. Installation was easy and the fan worked so well that we purchased a second fan in white for the office. Fans are beautiful and we get multiple compliments on them. We have 3 Minka-Aire fans in total. Remotes can be programmed on different frequencies so they do not interfere with each other. Fan blades come weighed and balanced so the fans are extremely quite even on higher speeds. LED light is bright and lights the room well. LED light is also dimmable and adjusts to your preference. Happy with the purchase. Would purchase again.

These are really cool looking and really move air. I had them (bought 2) professionally installed by an electrician since we we’re already having electrical work done. I am not overly impressed with the remote control other than it does remember the settings from when you last turned it off when you turn it on from the wall switch. I would be thrilled if it could be wired to control the light with a dimmer, and a second switch hard wired to control the fan. Would I buy them again or recommend them? Absolutely YES! Some reviewer have stated that the noise is an issue. Funny thing is that the one installed in bedroom 1 is completely silent except for the sound of wind movement and the on in bedroom 2 has a slight rocking noise at any speed. I’m guessing it’s a “balancing issue”. Luck of the draw I guess. I can imagine some might create a louder rocking noise which would annoy me as well.

Love the looks of this fan and I have a similar Minka in another room that works fine. This one has been a pain ever since it was installed. I've contacted the company in the past and got a response but what I was told to do didn't solve my problem, which at the time was either the light or the fan randomly coming on at any hour of the day. I'm only leaving a review now, nearing a year since purchasing, because I'm sitting in my office listening to the annoying noise it's making. It was installed by a qualified electrician and I've had it looked at since the installation. Maybe spending another one or two hundred to have him come back will solve the problem but I seriously doubt it. You've been warned!

Have had the Minka Aire for almost a year now. Like the way it works and nice that it has a LED light that you can dim and brighten as needed. Fan moves air reasonably well with the 44" fan blades. Would be great if the remote was able to change the directional flow so one would not have to manually do it by getting on a ladder and changing the switch.

Beautiful fan. I bought two of these, then a less expensive fan for a different room. I regret not installing these in all rooms. I’m not in love with remote control switches, but that seems to be the trend across all brands these days.

Excellent fan, that is pleasantly quiet. Controls were easy. I had a professional install it, though it appeared doable with intermediate experience and the right tools. It is noticeably higher in quality than the light-fan we replaced with it. Brightness of light is good, as it's variable, and once you set it at a certain level, it stays there (until you readjust) no matter how many times you turn the device on and off. Fits well in the space.

The good: 1. The fan's looks are as advertised. 2. The remote works well 3. It moves a reasonable amount of air. I'm in a fairly small 10x10 room and the low setting is a very gentle breeze that I can just barely feel. The high setting is a bit ridiculous, but low is perfect. The bad: 1. Installation instructions are pretty much useless. I've installed a fair number of fans so I eventually just ignored the instructions and improvised, which worked...but if you're relying on the instructions, be prepared to be frustrated. Note: I gave it 1 star for ease of installation not because the installation was particularly difficult, but because the instructions were so useless. 2. The light is horrible. It isn't very bright and since it's integral to the fan (vs. using normal, replaceable bulbs), there's nothing you can do about it. Also, the light pretty much all goes straight down. The old fan that this one replaced had four bulbs which pointed down and out about 45-degrees. The result was more light and light that resulted in the light being more even across the room. With this fan the room is much darker and there are lots of shadows because what light there is all pretty much comes from one place. 3. It's loud. I bought this to replace an old fan with an AC motor because the bearings were starting to get loud. This brand new DC fan makes more noise than the old AC fan with bad bearings. The noise is from the motor...it's an annoying hum at about 60hertz. The manual does say to give it 24 hours to break in. I will update my review after 24 hours to report if it has improved. Update: No reduction in hum after 24 hours. Overall a disappointment.
