Student Study Guide for Linear Algebra and Its Applications

Study Guide is very important to go along with text. Text is very to the point while the Guide provides tips and helps on how to study matrices. Author provides various approaches to studying matrices and what he has learned from teaching college classes. Very useful!

I really like the author's approach to this study guide. While it provides additional solutions to exercises, he stresses that specific numerical results are unimportant. Rather, the student is guided through the underlying critical thinking process to a thorough understanding of the material.

Says precisely the same thing as the book says. Solves or rather gives you tips only about the odd problems and no True False questions etc, in other words it does not even solve, it gives you rough tips on How to solve the problems to which there are already answers provided on the back of the book. Problems that have no answers such as the even numbered problems were not solved and no tips were given on how to solve those. Just wasted money on this piece of crap and what a coincidence or rather ironic: one of the writers has the name McDonald, (they must have been lazy, you can tell, I promise). Linear Algebra is hard, not very hard, but hard, so when one orders a guide, they expect it to have some type of aid that will enable a weak student to solve those problems - for which the student ordered the manual in the first place. Right? BUT NO, NOT with this stupid manual. How can students LEARN (lots of difference between getting an A grade and actually LEARNING something) when the writers themselves are getting dumber and dumber and greedier and greedier and lazier and lazier!!!!!! I have to say DNE (does not exist) about the solutions manual for the craptastic 4th edition. So the only way is to make mistakes, ask ur professor if he has time to help u or just ask an assistant or senior student to help u with those problems that u need help with. Good Luck.

It can be very helpful at times, but here are my issues with it: Summaries of sections can be so short, they only hit the really big topics, not the parts that may confuse you The problems worked out are selective, so again, it might not include the ones that confuse you (the only ones that really matter!) Sometimes, it's almost more complicated in explanations or wording than the textbook itself (the one this is supposed to accompany) That being said, the times where it does have what you're looking for can make up for its flaws, depending on the reader. Also, it does include practice problems that aren't in the book, if you need extra practice, and it does work problems out, which is nice.
