This movie is action packed and the whole family can watch. Never gets boring.

This Blu-Ray release of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man from 2002 is amazing, like the actual Stan Lee and Steve Ditko Marvel Spider-Man comic books the film is based on. The picture quality for this Blu-ray release is fantastic, looking even crisper and clearer than the original DVD release of this movie and, unsurprising, even the VHS release ever was back than. Everything looked better with this Blu-ray, and while I won't spoil anything what happens in this movie for those who didn't see it yet, I can say that the 1080p high definition upgrade is well worth it. It does also have some bonus features that was carried over from the original two disc DVD release. It, however, does not have all of the DVD bonus features such as the exclusive Marvel dot digital comic books on disc two of the two disc edition that was readable as DVD-ROM content, which is understandable as Blu-ray doesn't currently have Blu-ray ROM capabilities that I know of. It is lacking other bonus features from the DVD edition such as the Nickelback Hero music video and Sum 41's What Where All About music video, possibly because Sony couldn't get the licensing for both music videos to include on this Blu-ray release. For those reasons, I'm will be keeping both this Blu-ray edition as well as the two disc DVD edition together in my collection so I won't lose access to any of the DVD exclusive bonus features I do enjoy consuming. This Blu-ray is still amazing for the superb picture quality it almost feels very close to a movie theater experience. If you want to see this movie at the best home theater presentation possible, get this. This Blu-ray definitely gets a full five star rating from me. Highly recommended!

Sam Raimi’s 2002 film, “Spider-Man,” adapts the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko character for the big screen. The film stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn, Cliff Robertson as Ben Parker, Rosemary Harris as May Parker, J.K. Simmons as J. Jonash Jameson, Bill Nunn as Robbie Bobertson, and Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant. Raimi retells Spider-Man’s origin, with Peter Parker starting out as an outcast nerdy kid living in a working class neighborhood of Queens with his aunt and uncle. On a field trip, a genetically-modified (rather than radioactive) spider bites him, granting him powers including strength, speed, agility, a danger-sense, and the ability to shoot webs out of his wrists. He initially tries to use this power to make money, but lets a thief escape when the man running an underground wrestling match cheats Peter out of his winnings. The thief kills Peter’s Uncle Ben and so Peter learns the meaning of his uncle’s wisdom: “with great power there must also come great responsibility.” Meanwhile, Norman Osborn, fearful of losing military contracts, tests an experimental enhancement formula on himself, which drives him mad and turns him into the Green Goblin as he seeks revenge against those he perceives as having wronged him. Spider-Man and the Goblin clash, with their personal connection lending emotional weight to the physical fight. While “Blade” (1998) and “X-Men: The Movie” (2000) helped launch the modern superhero movie, Raimi’s bright and colorful “Spider-Man” proved that comic book movies could be faithful to a comic book aesthetic and tone while still being powerful films. He went on to direct both sequels to this film, which also launched an animated series spin-off that aired on MTV. I purchased this DVD because I had worn out my old DVD of the film and it was time to revisit this series.

Der von Stan Lee und Steve Ditko erdachte Superheld Spider-Man trat erstmals im Jahr 1962 auf und avangierte zu einem der wichtigsten Figuren des Marvel Verlags. Diese Verfilmung von Sam Raimi, dem Regisseur von "Armee der Finsternis" und "Darkman", ist einfach genial und eine Freude für alle Superheldenfans. Die Geschichte des Peter Parker, der nach dem Biss einer genmanipulierten Spinne, zum Superhelden Spider-Man wird ist wundervoll in Szene gesetzt. Allein die Hauptdarsteller machen diesen Film zu einem Genuss, nicht nur für Comic-Fans. Tobey Maguire verleiht der Figur Peter Parker/Spider-Man eine besondere Ausstrahlung. Zum einen als Peter Parker, der von seinen Mitschülern nicht groß beachtet wird, da er ja ein Nerd ist und zum anderen als wagemütiger und starker Spider-Man, der seine Kräfte dazu einsetzt die Unschuldigen zu schützen und Verbrechern den Kampf anzusagen. Kirsten Dunst, die man zuvor aus Filmen wie "Interview mit einem Vampir" und "Jumanji" kannte, macht eine tolle Figur als Mary-Jane Watson, der heimlichen Liebe von Peter Parker. James Franco weckt als Harry Osborn viel Sympathie, da er auf die Anerkennung seines Vaters Norman Osborn hofft. Willem Dafoe finde ich teuflisch gut in der Rolle des Norman Osborn/Grüner Kobold, erst so höflich in Zivil und im nächsten Moment so krankhaft wahnsinnig als Superschurke. Rosemary Harris strahlt in ihrer Rolle von Peter Parkers Tante May Parker eine ganz besondere Wärme aus, man findet sie einfach nur sympathisch und vor allem sehr liebenswert. J. K. Simmons finde ich sehr eindrucksvoll in der Rolle des cholerischen und umsympathischen Daily Bugle-Herausgebers J. Jonah Jameson, der Spider-Man total diffamiert und Hetztiraden von sich gibt. Dieser Film hat Action, Romantik und auch Dramatik der besonderen Art. Mit diesem Film begann eine Reihe von großen Superheldenfilmen.

i was looking for this for a long time. it is good quality and looks new. I love it.

Watching from Sweden but obviously watching the movie in english. Great scan of the movie, available in english 7.1 Atmos and 5.1 DTS. The Atmos version is super immersive and you really get that pop out of the audio and picture quality. Im watching it on a OLED CX65 aswell as using a merdian soundbar from LG but playing the movie through my PS5, to me it sounds and looks incredible (Not an audiophile, more so visiual nerd). I am suprised at how good my PS5 works as an 4K blu ray player.
