What is the purpose or function of the three (3) little flanges located between the metal screw & the circular eye?

The "flanges" are meant to lengthen the electrical leakage path, thus enhancing the resistance to electron flow. It makes them work as better insulators between the electric fence wire and the supporting structure into which these are screwed. The "flanges" perform the same function as the long strings comprising electrical insulators which support high voltage transmission lines from their towers.

These were exactly as advertised. I used them for an electric fence around my garden. Deer, rabbits, skunks, racoons, ect. They were very easy and fast to install with the included wrench and my cordless drill. They work very well and saved a lot of time.

Good accessory for an electric fence wire install

These were very easy to install, especially with the attachment that comes with it. The electric wire for the anti-critter fencing slips easily into the slots in each one, and they can be turned to any angle needed to take the fence wire around corners or up and down. Just slip the wire in the slots and it stays put.
