We moved recently and got a new internet service provider. While the provider and their service was good, the Modem Router that they rented to us was not. We were having constant DNS errors, sometimes the Router would just reset itself, and we would see significantly lower download rates than we were promised. We tried having them replace it with another rented router but the issues continued. Then I decided to do some research. As someone who games and works from home daily I needed a device that could handle high speeds reliably. Dropping my connection in the middle of a meeting or god forbid a match was not acceptable. Then I saw the prices for your average "High End Router" that does not even come with the modem portion. Buying two $200+ devices was just too much, not to mention the worry of them arriving and not working with eachother or one of them being incompatible with my ISP for some reason. With more research I found Netgear and their very reasonable prices and high end devices. And even more awesome they actually offer a gamer level Modem Router combo. The Nighthawk was the same price as a high end router from other companies and it came with the modem built in. I ordered it and set it up. The instructions included with it were fantastic and I had it up and running in no time. A 10 minute call to my ISP later to activate the device (which the instructions also walk you through) and I was up and running and the fastest speeds I've ever had at any of my homes or with any ISP or device. I'm a few weeks in now and have had zero issues, where as before I was having network troubles every couple of days. 5 stars for sure. No complaints at all. The range of the wifi is also very impressive. I'm able to walk a good 200 feet away from my house and still have wifi on my cellphone. And I love the Nighthawk app that you can manage it with from your cellphone. It lets me check the devices on my network with a touch and disconnect any that shouldn't be there. Great stuff netgear, very happy with my purchase.

We had a Motorola modem router combo for the past 18 months. It replaced a Netgear unit that after 4 years became inoperable due to a serious home power surge. The Motorola was a recommendation from our internet provider. Had to add 3 wifi extenders to cover our 2300 square foot home. The unit often dropped wifi, could only use WPS after a reset and was very unreliable. Coould not even received a signal on our patio. Installed the Nighthawk 3 weeks ago and it has been operating flawlessly. Removed the 3 wifi extenders and even receive a strong signal outside our home. Installation was very easy using the Netgear app. There are numerous options with the unit that can be changed by the app to customize for individual requirements. I have continuous and strong wifi. We are getting a stronger signal than I have even had with the previously recommended unit. I wish I had my neighbors recommendation 18 months ago as it would have saved us time, money, and lots of agrivation. Thank you Netgear for a great product! I am a Netgear customer for life.

The bad reviews are accurate. This router has the potential to perform well given it's specs but suddenly goes bad and it's happening to a lot of people. Lucky for me mine failed within my return window and I was able to process a return. First few days everything was great. Response time on web pages were very fast, speed tests were great, decent Wifi signal throughout my house, setup went smoothly, and everyone was happy but that only lasted a few days. Suddenly I noticed things running very slow, my Gigabit speeds were reduced down to around 150 to 200 mbps and Wifi constantly disconnecting. Rebooting would fix the issue temporarily bringing me to my normal 900+ mbps but within minutes it would drop back down to 200 mbps again. I made sure the firmware was upgraded to the latest version and even installed the latest hotfix from the Netgear website. Toyed around with changing wireless channels, changing the Wifi security type.. nothing worked. I am on Sparklight Cable service so I'm limited to only a few devices that are "approved" (this was one of them). I ended up returning this router and purchased the Motorola MB8600 which is the next best modem on the approved list but it's a standalone modem so you have to purchase a Wifi router separately. I bought the Asus ROG AX6000 to pair with it. So far the Motorola/Asus pair has been performing excellent but time will tell. I'm very disappointed in Netgear and will never buy another one of their devices again.

Whoa!! This router/modem is like BLAZING fast and stable. After weeks of enduring constant disconnects daily it turned out that my old router/modem were failing. If you're having the same problem, I was then it's prob. a router issue or modem, not your service or computer. It's hard to track down the culprit. So rather struggle with them and it after years of use, it was time to get a ripper both in one box (small size and frees up desk space) and the latest greatest one available at a reasonable cost. Hey, all this electronic stuff wears out just like people. The Nighthawk Net gear is a quality, easy setup!! Sure, their expensive but the performance is rocking. I can recommend this router/modem and Net gear as a TOP internet access product. by the way I'm an old guy with not much in the way of Tech skills, If I can install this equipment pretty much any one can. BTW I used ethernet cable to connect, no messing with the wireless, like plug in and get your service to send code to it, extremely stable way to go.

Product set up easily and seems to work well. We didn't get the wifi coverage that we expected from it as all of our devices are well within the coverage stated. Our IT tech suggested using a wifi range extender, but I'm hoping to avoid the added expense. Not quite sure it will penetrate the double-pane windows any better. Overall we are satisfied with the product.
