Perfect!
I received this adaptor exactly 1.5 days after my order. (I love Amazon Prime)! The connections are snug, and the dvi to monitor dvi end, slipped in with hardly any resistance. (On this monitor, you have a hard time with regular cables. And some foul language can often be heard). Once installed, it is tight enough to almost forget about the screws, but don't. They are very easy to handle, and snug right up. Murphy's law teaches us, that if you forget the screws, the connector MUST eject itself at the WORST possible moment! Gotta love Murphy... The HDMI cable plugs in with just the right amount of resistance, and it stays put. No wiggle, and I tested it by taking my kindle micro-hdmi to hdmi cable into it and swinging it around a few times. No failure, or wiggle in the connection. So now I watch my kindle on my 21.5" monitor with my speakers, and sub-woofer. I am happy! This adaptor is great. Perfect tolerances. I know it's just an adaptor, but so much goes wrong with the basic stuff. Bent, broken, tarnished, or missing pins. Stripped screws. Internal open circuits, or "Gremlins" inside. I've seen it all. Over 30 years of assembler, to teast-tech, to auto tech when the tech jobs blew away. That's "A- level auto-tech". Specializing in the electronic end. No money in that, so I haggled for a FAT salary. As I look at t strip of skin, that a Ford sliced from my right wrist. Thanks Ford, for making razor-sharp dashboards. Well, if you want a great hdmi-to-dvi adaptor, get this one. I put it through it's paces, so you don't have to. Enjoy! And if you don't already have Amazon Prime, get it! Its my Christmas present to myself every year. $85.00 usually pays itself off in 2 or 3 months. The rest is gravy! Liquidtusk

Decent HDMI to Composite video converter
Does the job quite well. It’s good that it comes with a switch for the European standard PAL, because with my TV, even though it’s supposed to be NTSC standard, the picture was scrunched up and not in color when this box was switched to NTSC. When this device was switched to PAL, then I got the full-sized image, in color. A little pricey, but the build quality is good and the addition of the NTSC/PAL switch proved to be a lifesaver for a usable conversion.

Sensitive connections could mean a poorer quality unit
This product works as intended, however the connections are not that high quality. During initial set up, the picture on the screen would often flicker or go black until I found a way to lay the cords so it would play without disturbing the connection. As of right now, the 1080p picture coming from my graphics card, to this splitter, to an hdmi cable and then to my television screen looks crystal clear, so this product can work perfectly fine, so long as I don't touch it. There really weren't many of these to choose from when I purchased it so this still may be your best choice on amazon and I guess its hard to complain about such a cheap piece of hardware, but I have to mark it down on its quality.

It’s works for high quality audio from a roku. Picture looks just like a direct hdmi connection
I’m using two of these from a roku to 2-channel integrated amps. This device is 50 percent to double other extractors. I have had issues with other extractors so I thought let’s get this by a reputable high quality mfg and not mess around with going through multiple cheap extractors. I like to stream Amazon music hd from a roku so I can display album art. It sounds as good as a my bluesound. Picture looks the same as a direct hdmi connection. I can also flip between hdmi soundbar and 2 channel system as both systems play at sound at same time. This one is a winner. Edit: So now you can stream Amazon HD via newer Fire Stick. So I tried using this device with the firestick to send optical out to a receiver. I am showing album art on another tv, not main tv. If found that in order to get lossless audio you need to select the 5.1 channel ouput despite the fact that I am sending 2 channel data. When on 2 channel this device appears to downgrade the qaulity as verified with Yamaha app. The app shows 192 khz for a test UHD track. with 5.1 on. When 2 channel is selcted it shows 48 khz.. Not srure why is downgrading the signal with 2 channel, maybe for legacy equipment.

An Amazing Adapter!
Chalk up another 5 star to this amazing adapter. This was exactly what I needed to connect my XBox 360 to an older RCA Scenium HDTV that had only a DVI connection. The picture on my TV looks great! 2 Cons I personally have that really don't warrant less than 5 stars: * If you have big fingers and thumbs it might be a little hard to tighten the screws down to your TV...BUT...you only have to do it once if you plan to keep it hooked up to the TV permanently. * The angle of the photo shown here on Amazon.com made it look smaller. It sticks out a bit longer from the TV in the back than what you might expect. You may be looking at an estimated 4 to 5 inch cable sticking out of the back of your TV (that's after the HDMI cable is plugged into the adapter) if you are planning to put your TV up against the wall as much as you can. If you are looking for something that doesn't stick out a lot I'd recommend just getting an HDMI to DVI cable without the adapter. (Although that would cost $30-40. If you already have an HDMI cable on hand then this is the obvious choice.) The reason I didn't give it a less-than 5 stars is the quality of this adapter along with the results I had on my TV completely outdoes any of the cons I personally had with it.

Effective but one flaw
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do HOWEVER it is a single link layer DVI and not a dual link layer. This is confusing because the photos show both kinds. Oddly, it looks like the knock-off brands are the dual link ones while the so called name-brand is a single link. For the vast majority of uses this doesn't make any difference and it doesn't make any difference for my application. It is something to be aware of, however, because there is a small minority of cases where the DVI-D benefits from the dual link for an upgraded video connection such as when dealing with very large, high quality monitors.

Después de algunos meses con el dispositivo no ha fallado ni una vez. Separa audio auxiliar de un HDMI. Lo recomiendo.

The picture and sound split off from the Apple TV, but the sound quality was so poor I ditched it.

I was skeptical that this would work and initially I got some garbled video. I have a Samsung 27A850D which has display port and DVI ports only max 2560x1440. Tried multiple different cables to connect my HDMI 2.0 port to the monitor (passive HDMI to DP, HDMI to DVI, a different active HDMI to DP). This is the only one that finally worked and without having to plug in the USB power connector.
