Great quality and effective devices
I have the Hub Mini and 2 Motion Sensors. I initially bought the hub and 2 sensors on a deal. To start with, I didn't have any issue setting up the hub or one of the sensors, but the second one turned out to be faulty. I established this with great help from Customer Support. I got a replacement which worked without any problem. I use one sensor to turn on a hallway light, on a schedule, during the night. The other one has different schedules enabled to turn on lights in our living room late at night, turn on the light and my PC first thing in the morning and also turn on my PC when I get home from work in the afternoon (all via Alexa routines)! The sensors are very well made and the range they cover is at least 30-40 feet. Battery life is really good - almost a year so far, even though they are in highly active areas, and the app even tells you how much battery life is remaining. These really are impressive little devices and Switchbot provide great service.

Good product but slow response
[ETA] Switchbot have been in touch and their Customer Services & Support have improved to the point where I felt it necessary to re-review my review & the product. I use it in my 'broom cupboard' and it is pointed directly at the door. It takes a moment for the indicator light to signal it's interaction & acknowledgement of my motion. I assume this is the delay caused by relying on web-server-side activities instead of local-based. As I'm only in the cupboard for a few seconds (returning the mop, throwing shoes in there, etc.) the bulb comes on just I'm shutting the door again - somewhat defeating it's purpose. However, it works just fine for longer periods - keeping the light on as needed until the door shuts. In terms of quality, it's a sturdy build and the magnetic base affords great potentially awkward spots being accommodated as it can be stuck to any metal surface. The device is very easy to set up with the provided app which covers all of SwitchBot's devices & ecosystem and thus the phone can be used to log events. I've generally been happy with the product bar the aforementioned sluggish response-time.

Easy set up
Very easy to set up and makes things automatically operate when it detects movement or no movement.

Too many caveats puts this in the middle in the market
At the current age, you mix your ecosystems and with that one needs to talk to another. SwitchBot is no different. While it does work, we all want a fast and reliable sensor. This is neither. Home Assistant as the main controller can do Matter and Bluetooth. You can connect this device both ways however if you want the Matter support, you'll need a Switchbot Matter hub like the mini. Sadly with Matter you'll getting almost an extra second of delay. Putting to side the delay, it has a timeout of 30 seconds which works better than the IKEA sensors and around the same as Aqara's motion sensors but all of them fall really short when you compare them with Philips Hue's one. The base which comes with this is nice but extremely fragile. I ordered two of these on sale and broke one's base as it's locked with a twist method where only 3 small plastic holders are keeping everything together. Also like many motion sensors, this falls short when it's used in a humid environment. In short, don't use this in a bathroom. While it does have a light sensor, that's not exposed outside Switchbot's system much as Aqara's P1. As much as I wanted to love these, it's only a toy. Pros: - easy to integrate to Home Assistant - Matter compatible via hub (be aware the limitations of Switchbot's hubs) - nice looking design - good battery life - stand can be attached to the bottom or the back of the device (this is actually brilliant) - can be added to your ecosystem via Bluetooth Cons: - feels really cheap plastic - sensor is not so accurate - response time is kind of ... meh - stand can break easily - managing software is kind of slow (like Govee slow)

Reliable within home assistant
share my SwitchBot experience I use my SwitchBot motion sensor in my sons room. Every morning whether it be going to school or at the weekend when he is in bed reading before he gets up he will have his reading light on at the very least and sometimes his down lights in the ceiling., he never turns these off even though he has smart buttons on his bed and a smart switch on the wall at his bedroom door. I have set a routine in Home assistant for every day between 7.30am & 8.30am for: if the lights in his room are on and there has been no motion for 10 minutes turn off the lights. Works a treat.

Good sensor and easy to install
This motion sensor works well and when combined with Alexa routines provides for a useful addition to the smart home. I use it to turn lights on overnight when someone enters the landing from a bedroom. It then stays on for 10 minutes and switches off again if no more activity is detected. There are two limitations. The first is an Alexa routine limitation which does not allow for more sophisticated combinations of trigger. e.g. I can't say only detect motion if after sunset but before sunrise. I can however put in time limitations. The 2nd limitation is that the thermal sensor is not particularly sensitive even on its most sensitive setting. I have a moderately long landing and it does not detect movement at the far end. I would say it is fairly reliable up to 5m or so but not beyond. There are quite a few factors that effect this so I can't give a specific distance. The app itself is good and allows for more sophisticated routines than Alexa, however will only allow you to control other Switchbot products and not for example Smartlife compatible switches hence why you may well resort to Alexa (or Google) routines.
