Review: Good way to explore and introduce a Mediterranean diet - Recipes are easy to source and follow. Unsure about weight loss but with recommendations and more information on blue zones. It makes to introduce a Mediterranean diet. Review: Healthy and Tasty - I was recently diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and my cardiologist told me I could either take anti-coagulants ("blood thinners") or risk having a stroke and losing the ability to talk and use half of my body. I had noticed an occasional "fluttering" in my chest for several weeks, but I hate to go to the doctor. I did some research on anti-coagulant drugs and discovered that they do not "prevent" strokes - they only reduce the likelihood. They also carry the risk of catastrophic bleeding in various parts of your body, including the brain. Further research - there are LOTS of lawsuits going on against these new "wonder" drugs that have come out to replace warfarin (which also has bleeding risks). I discovered research that the Mediterranean diet is associated with a lot of benefits to the heart, including some evidence (not a lot, honestly) that it can actually reduce or eliminate atrial fibrillation. I started out on my own, eating mostly chicken, fish, and raw fruits and vegetables. But that gets old pretty fast, especially if you are accustomed to the typical American fare. Lilly Fitt's recipes to the rescue! Now I should have NO trouble sticking to this diet. Oh, by the way, I haven't had an atrial fibrillation incident since about a month after I started this diet. (Disclaimer: I am not a health care professional, and I am only reporting my own experience. Your mileage may vary. :-)

Where?
Where do I find all these alien to me ingredients, Lilly? I'm a single person living in a house that belongs to my daughter. These people do not EST like this. Give me a very simple and uncomplicated diet plan and I will do it, but I can't do what you are suggesting

More than a guide - also the answers.
I found the Mediterranean Diet book full of recipes and also as an answer. You see, my wife struggles with fybro, diabeties, other chronic pain from her back, and eating challenges from wheat. I looked to this book for alternative recipes and snack suggestions. Now, I'm glad to report, we have a better tool with which to approach her complex problems. Thank you for this book.

Good start to your Mediterranean diet
This is a good, little book. I mostly use the breakfast recipes as I needed some good ideas, which this book will give you, for a Mediterranean breakfast.

Very American
Really disappointed in this book. Having read about the author studying in Glasgow and living in London had expected the book to be in English, not American. The recipes can be translated, although where you can find hickory chips or arugula in Cornwall or even in UK as a whole is beyond me . I already knew what some of the things were but 'evaporated cane sugar' and 'half and half' I had to look up on the internet. I can cope with the cup measurements but this is not the English book I was expecting so will have to substitute for a lot of things, although rocket is a poor substitute for arugula if that is like the rucola I have bought in the Canaries. The recipes seem quite simple and easy to follow so I am looking forward to trying some of them, but this is not the book I was hoping for and only skims the surface of the principles of the Mediterranean diet.
