I have two of these now, one plugs into the display head and is used for packet data. (The D710 has a built-in TNC.) The other plugs into the PC port on the main body and is used for programming. You can enter all your frequencies by hand, but it's soooo much easier to use the MCP-6A program from Kenwood. Kenwood also sells an FTDI serial cable and for less. But you must download separately the driver software from the chip maker. This one is plug and play.

Cable worked as advertised.

Found out the hard way the TM-D710 only pipes audio into this cable from the B band or right side. This cable is a huge step up from holding a phone up the speaker and running Robot36 on your phone to decode slow scan tv images. With this cable you can leave the B band tuned to 145.800MHz and run RX-SSTV on your computer and have it automatically decode SSTV images without keeping the whole house up at night listening to the SSTV signal.

Worked perfect on my Kenwood TM-V71A, and at a price that's a lot cheaper than the manufacturer! Echolink works perfectly with this & the other serial cable required.
