What are the approximate dimensions of the individual puzzle pieces?

I have measured a piece for you: 4.4 cm or a little more than 1 & three quarter inches - pretty big. My grandson was around 5 and had no problems with this puzzle. Cheerio Lindy

No, it is not wood. However, I have bought Ravensburger puzzles over the years for my children, and am still buying them for my grandchildren. They are heavy cardboard and pieces are cut well. Puzzles are grouped by age as to how many pieces are included.

What are the dimensions of the completed puzzle and does it list anywhere on the box the names of the dinosaurs?

Finished puzzle is 49 x 36 cm approx. or 19.25 x 14.25 inches. The dinosaurs aren't listed on the box or any of the packaging, but it made an excellent beginning point with my child to go to the computer (and library) to learn more about dinosaurs in general and figure out which ones were on the puzzle.
