Prime-Line U 9846 Patio Sliding Door Loop Lock, 1-1/8 In. Hardened Steel Bar with Diecast Base, Nickel Plated (Single Pack)

I replaced the sliding glass door handle on an older sliding glass door (built in 1980s) and the lock didn't quite work correctly. So I bought this lock. This lock is great! It is so much safer than the handle locks. I cannot be lifted off the track like the handle locks. It looks great with the door and makes me feel so much safer! For such a reasonable price, I recommend it for anyone who needs a good reliable lock for their sliding glass doors. Since it fits on the frame of the door, it fits pretty much all sliding glass doors.

Don't take the "Frequently Returned Item" box as a sign this is low quality. It is not. I got tired of having to bend down behind the couch every night to put the 2 x 2 in place so the door wouldn't slide. This turned out to be the perfect solution. Five stars all day long. I suspect the "Frequently Returned" is due to things like not having the space to mount or the correct tools. Below is what you need to measure and need to mount properly. Tools you are going to need to mount properly. Drill. Even a cheap $12 corded drill, doesnt matter. 3/32 metal drill bit for starter holes. (Titanium works best and is cheap) Fine point Shrpie or pencil. Phillips Screwdriver These are 3/4" wide, so at a minimum, with door fullly closed you will need a surface of 3/4" for both the latch and reciever side. The minimum distance with the door closed from the outside of the latch to outside of reciever side is 2" in order for it to lock. So if your door frame or outside trim is less than 3/4" with a distance from outside to ourside of the mounts of 2", this likely won't work. Also keep in mind that part of your glass is inside the door frame,so you don't want to be drilling holes through and cracking the glass. Mounting (For me) that took less than five minutes. Decide where you want to put it. Put the lock together and hold it in the position you want to hold it and mark the screw holes with the sharpie or pencil. Drill the starter holes. Screw in with Phillips Screwdriver. Simple to mount. Works well.

Perfect for those cats or kids who like to open doors when they shouldn’t. Gotta keep them all safe. Works great easy to install. Good price solid construction.

I purchased five of these Defender Security loop locks and installed them outdoors approximately 2 years and 3 months ago (around February 2023). After being exposed to outdoor weather conditions for this entire period, they understandably show some visible signs of rust and corrosion on the nickel plating. However, despite this cosmetic wear-and-tear from the elements, I can report that all five locks are still fully functional and working without any problems. They have held up quite well structurally, considering the outdoor installation. If you're looking for a basic secondary lock that proves durable even when used outside, these have performed reliably for me over the long term.

I bought two of these for my sliding closet doors, one each door, to keep our toddler out of that closet. They work great. We installed them just above eye level which is well out of Jr's reach. They are easy to use, and they even hold the doors still. We don't have a bottom guide for the doors for some reason, so the doors swing a bit and can be swung in opposite directions allowing a clever tot (or pet) into the closet. These locks prevent that. A quick flip of the "bolt" and the door is unlatched. Just as easy to latch, just slide the "bolt" into the hole. I chose this product because of the reviewer that experienced the latches holding the sliding patio doors against a hurricane. I figured that would be the best to prevent curious tots (and pets) from getting into the closet. And it does. I highly recommend these for sliding door closets.

I have several of these in use. Strong lock. I put 2 per door. The reason I do that is because when mounted, the locking bar can flop around and get caught in the door closure. I use the second one (the side without the locking bar) and mount it next to the locking bar as a storage. When not in use I simply put the locking bar into the second attached bar hold and it stays there and doesn't flop around when opening and shutting the door.

I love this product! So glad I found it and thanks to all the reviews. I have two Dobermans and the female is too smart for her own good. We have a metal pet protector on the screen door and she jumps and claws the sliding screen open. Thanks to this product she cannot open the door!! Woohoo!!!!! She tries numbers times and cannot. I’m so happy with this product. No more flies and mosquitos in the house because of a naughty dog. I highly recommend to all my friends and family.

Justo lo que promete. Acabado cromado pulido sin detalles, incluye tornillos que no utilicé porque puse unos más cortos. Se instala fácil y se siente muy firme y resistente. Lo instalé en puerta corrediza de aluminio sin problema. Si tienen mosquitero, revisen que no vaya a estorbar al momento de instalarlo. Volvería a comprar. Llegó en blíster igual al de otra publicación que estaba casi al doble de precio. Lo recomiendo

Brilliant piece of engineering, some one really thought it out. We live in the UK and discovered these in the US, they work really well on ordinary doors that open outwards. Being stainless steel they look good and are extremely strong. We used them on connecting house to garage door and house to conservatory doors. They are easy to fit and reasonably priced. Well done Prime-Line. Oh and they arrived speedily from the US to UK.
