I cook a lot of South East Asian food and this quality is great. I usually get dried galangal from the Asian market nearby but recently they didn’t have the normal product I buy, so I bought the other one that was in stock at the time, and it had some extra preservative on it or something and it changed the flavor and it made my food taste medicinal and off and I was very sad. BUT found this product through Amazon and happy to see there were no preservatives. It tastes great!

Tastes great in so many types of international recipes. Not as good as fresh, so you might have to use a tad more. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste.

It's a very fine powder and it's very easy to mix into water or whatever you're cooking. I made some tea and stirred some in. I used to live in Thailand and had fresh galangal. We would cut a piece and pound it in a mortar. The strength is a big difference. For the price and labor savings this is fine. I still want fresh but it's hard to find and I guess I will have to start growing my own.

Galangal is not easy to find locally (where I am). This really works well. I don't have to worry about the fresh any longer and don't have to keep it in the refer. I make a lot of Thai food, and this is one of the staples I often need. Occasionally, I can find fresh and prefer it, but in a pinch, this works well.

Product was delivered two days ago, and I peeled back the seal covering the product, and sniffed. Nothing. I took a tiny pinch to taste. Zero flavor. I looked at the expiration date to see if it was outdated. Good until 9/2026. I examined the label to be sure what I ordered was correct. Yes, says it is galangal powder. I sprinkled it on a salad that I had dumped the shredded carrot and sliced cumber that came with a chicken satay that I had had at a Thai restaurant the day before to liven the rest of the salad. Could not discern any galangal flavor. Just requested a refund, because it is useless for cooking.

Great product.. just use grinder for use in recipes
