Is this a total sunblock or just a sunscreen?

I use it mainly as a sunblock on my face, lips, nose, and ears, and regular sunscreen on arms and neck when riding motorcycles or extended periods in the sun. My lips a very sensitive to overexposure to sunlight. This stuff works great.

Looking for a sunscreen that will be effective throughout my kids' entire school day (about 8 hours). Will this last that long?

8 hrs is pretty long for any sunscreen. This Zinka works very well and goes on clear so my kids do use before school. We live in Hawaii, lots of sun, however I would say it should be reapplied after 5-6 hrs.

Does it stain swimsuits?

i put it on my face neck, arms , legs, i do not see the conflict with swimsuits, it is clear
