These filters last a pretty long time. For simple sediment filtering I lasted a year in my bathroom sink that I use to wash my hands and for drinking water. I took apart the filter before I installed a new one and I saw the material it's made of. The outside filter material is a simple sediment filter material and then inside is a compacted carbon cylinder and in the middle is ion exchange beads . The filter does a good job of removing chlorine and chemicals taste from water. My water tasted as good as bottles water now in my opinion. I'm unsure what else it removes but to find out that you must Google the filter rating. But in my opinion this is a great all in one filter for a kitchen sink a refrigerator or bathroom sink. These filters work in a system that allows you to easily install these whole house filters in different areas of the house without needing to hire a plumber. If you can connect a hose in a garden then you can install and manage these systems. This systems does just as good it feels as the system I purchased for my kitchen that has 3 separate filters. 1 sediment filter , 1 carbon filter and 1 chemical filter. But obviously this filter doesn't last as long since it's smaller. Still great filter and I highly recommend it. All tap water should be filtered if you a drinking it. Google what's in my water and enter your zip code to find out what chemicals are in your city's tap water. For nyc being touted as some of the cleanest water in the usa there is tons of cancer causing chemicals in it and if you didn't know microscopic shrimp. If you are Jewish or Muslim you must filter your water or you are consuming shell fish if you live here.

Works great! Easy installation. Water taste great. I've used the same filter for almost 2 years and just now started changing color. I'm definitely keeping this filtration system.

These work well on my cold water lines to keep my water tasting good

Didn't realize how dirty my water was needed to be replaced before recommended time but did work it was gross

Easy to install, seems to be working well, have not had my water tested to be sure of what it is removing, water pressure is effected a little but not too bad, good deal for the money
