Review: The Lost Hours - yet another fantastic read from this talented writer. - To date I have read every Susan Lewis book and never been disappointed. I have to admit I pre order each book as soon as I know about it. No other Author has gained such loyalty from me. I admire the way Susan obviously spends a lot of time on her research and this is so evident in the detail. Each book is a page turner and I have yet to guess the outcome correctly. This story covers the subject of familial DNA and the anguish that is caused to a Happy , Loving well respected family. As usual the outcome is quite unexpected. An excellent read . Review: A great read - This is the first book I have read of Susan Lewis. I found it was a bit slow to start, but once it got going I found it was a good read, many twists and turns. When I found who did it, I was surprised. It certainly keeps you guessing. I will read some more of her books.

Great read
I hadn’t read anything by Susan Lewis before and this book has got be hooked I’m currently reading THe Lost Hours and really enjoying it. The characters are really well written and I was quickly sucked in and couldn’t wait to get back to the book each day. And the conclusion didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend!

A Curate's egg
This is the first novel by this author that I have read. What I liked: Interesting story, a police procedural into a cold-case murder and a kitchen sink drama about the effects of being in a family at the heart of the case. The police investigation parts were well written and the dialogue snappy and believable and it moved the narrative forward. The plot didn't take the obvious ending it so easily could have. What I didn't like: The main characters, they were so perfect, with such a perfect life. I realise this was intentional to make what followed all the more shocking, but it was so over the top. I almost gave up after two chapters of this. The characters - I just didn't care about them, landed upper-middle class types who basically did what they liked in their community. The "family" parts, far too much waffle about the same things over and over again, and the dialogue of these characters was terrible, do people really talk like this? The last 4 chapters are unnecessary and could have been cut to a single concluding chapter. In conclusion This reads like it has sold the TV rights already and a six part "ITV Drama Premiere" will soon be with us. If it ever makes it to the screen it will be OK for the first episode, getting interesting in the second, then episodes 3 and 4 will be pointless padding, episode 5 will be better, then in the final episode it will all conclude slightly too quickly and conveniently. If you enjoy reading about privileged slightly insecure neurotic middle class types then this is for you.

My First By Her
My first read of this author.....and I loved this cover, I must say. The story I found got a lot better as we progressed. The beginning I thought dragged a little too much and it took a good while to get to the actual story itself. I personally could've done without the excess of firearms' knowledge. We only needed to know the bare bones, really. There are a lot of characters but I liked that we got to know each and every one quite well. This is mainly why I prefer longer novels, you get more information about the people featured. It was nice the whole family mucked in with the business, all generations. The dog was never left out of anything, either, and was properly treated as one of the family, and that'll always been a winner for me. I would've liked to know more about Natalie and her back-story but perhaps she'll get her own tale one of these days. I did make a note that Julia seemed a bit of a flake to me as well.....and I wasn't a fan of Chrissie. I found it odd she capitalises Travellers, the same way authors have all of a sudden started to do when writing Black as well. Not sure if it's a new PC thing but it always distracts me. I also didn't like her use of American spelling the whole way through. There were a few apostrophe mistakes, though she got it right many times, so a proofreader ought to have corrected this. She wrote affect not effect and I've no idea what "to the refs" means (and Google was no help there), there were words dropped from sentences, another e-book staple, like over/the/a, quite a lot of missed commas and I found this an odd expression, "She sat into a chair." The ending was bittersweet but I still liked it and I will read another by her for sure.

So many twists, couldn’t put this one down.
Another incredibly well written novel by Susan Lewis. Her characters are so believable and you don’t see the twists coming. Love her writing style.

Gripping
It was gripping in parts but the last part dragged or was not needed. Still worth reading. So enjoy enjoy.

All through the book, I kept wondering who the murderer was, and what a surprise to finally find out. I enjoyed the book and want to read more of Susan Lewis’ novels.

Well written, moving book. It kept me in suspense from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed the forensic aspect of the investigation. I'm always attracted to these kinds of mysteries.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was detailed but easy to follow. The characters were detailed in a way I felt like I really knew them. Kudos to Ms. Lewis!
