I used a single 1/4 inch lag bolt to hold each bracket. As others have pointed out, the arms of the bracket block access to the center mounting hole making installation a bit tedious. What I did was place the bracket where I wanted it and inserted a drill bit (hand held) in the center mounting hole and used the tip of the bit to scratch a mark on the wall. I could then move the bracket aside and drill a hole at the mark. Using hex head lag bolts for mounting, I used a ratchet wrench with a 7/16 socket to tighten the lag bolt. Mounting the brackets that way was easy.I'm including a couple of photos showing a scrap of PVC pipe secured in a clamp.The package has an advisory note suggesting to place the brackets directly below a coupling or fitting in the pipe on vertical runs to keep the pipe from slipping down and that's what I did. The brackets are well made and look good (as good as a bracket can look at least). One side of the bracket has two little plastic nibs (see photo) that I assume are to help pry the bracket open to release the pipe if necessary. You'll want those nibs on the side opposite the coupling or fitting so that bracket sits flush. These served my purpose perfectly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great solution for pipe and duct mounting. *by I***Y on February 6, 2025* I use these to mount a 4in dryer ducting, I put an insulating foam barrier between the clamp and the duct. Works great and is very sturdy and easy to handle. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Paint clamps if used in outside instalation *by P***N on May 30, 2025* This is my second order. The first was 2018. They were used to secure the input and output plastic pipes going into my condensing, Combi boiler-hot water heater. The clamps were easy to handle and mount and 3" pipes snapped easily into them. I expected that this would be the end of the story. The clamps were in full sun and weather for 8 years. I notice last week that this exposure almost completely deteriorated the plastic with one on the ground after failing. They needed immediate replacement. In study on this, I learned that Schedule 40 pipe can be degraded by sunlight and weather. To prevent this PAINT THE CLAMPS WITH WHITE SPRAY PAINT after installation. I painted the plastic vent pipe on my roof and it appears to be in very good shape. I expect the paint will protect these new clamps. I am still happy with the purchase as they are so easy to work with.
