The speed of response and accuracy of this thermometer is excellent. The body is robust and smooth so it’s easy to wipe clean. It’s also waterproof, including the battery compartment, where all the control buttons are protected. It’s rare that you will want to alter the settings anyway, so this isn’t a problem and it avoids water ingress through leaky switch housings. The thermometer can measure temperature in either Celsius (centigrade) or Fahrenheit and it is switched on by opening the probe. This automatically switches on the lcd display and illumination. There is a sensor to determine the ambient light level and this saves on battery usage. If needed, you can switch on the display illumination by covering the sensor with your thumb. The display is self-orienting so makes readings easy to make regardless of the angle of the thermometer. The probe is thin and sharp and easily penetrates meat. Take care to open the probe gently from a position close to the pivot as the probe is a thin stainless steel tube not a solid steel rod - so don’t use it to prise lids from tins! The accompanying instruction booklet is the most comprehensive example that I have seen. It’s excellent. The thermometer may be on the pricey side, but compared to the slooow response of other thermometers I have used, I wouldn’t be without this one.

It’s so quick to use, really accurate and made in the UK. It’s the perfect thermometer for checking food is cooked at home. If I ran a business or was a chef I’d have one of these. It is so quick compared to the other thermometers I have used. I am very impressed. I don’t know how long the mechanism will last but it feels robust and the small size of the probe means no visible holes, mostly.

This thermometer is a quality measuring device, with rapid reading, multiple angle/orientations of the probe/display and importantly waterproof (we've ruined a few cheaper alternatives that got slightly wet). All in all, this product is well worth the price tag.

Buy this one over the cheaper "Classic" as it's accurate and updates faster (1 second reads) No drama at all with this device. My older Thermapen IR served me well for a few years, but now refuses to take probe temps and only takes IR temps. Maybe I can fix it, but that's another story.

They always say that you should never ask a hoover salesman about buying the right washing machine.... And that's why I never will :) In the past I have been guilty of looking for bargain items for home use, I can truthfully say your thermometer should never be one of them. (Although it did take me 3 oxo thermometers failing before I finally got the message) This one is the exact same thermometer that they use in commercial kitchens with real chefs and stuff cool hey.... And I can understand why, its quick, feels incredibly well made and so far hasn't failed to improve a single bacon sandwich - in my mind that's worth every penny. On a more serious note : if you value understanding the temperatures of your meat, need to check water temperatures at work or simply feel like upgrading your bbq this year I can highly recommend buying this.

Good quality product. Easy to use.

This is a really well-made, sturdy product. It does exactly what it says on the tin! It checks temperatures REALLY quickly, and you can feel the great build quality in your hand. It puts my previous £10 thermometer to shame. The only downside is that it's really expensive. I understand that you have to pay extra for quality gear, but I think a more fair price for this would be in the £50 region. Love this thermometer. Don't really love the price!
