Paris Chef u'Select Salt and Pepper Mills

This Peugeot peppermill in brushed stainless steel is gorgeous and outstanding quality. It was a tough choice as to whether to buy one in wood or brushed stainless, but I'm so happy with the brushed stainless as it looks great and matches everything. The bottom turns to select the coarseness of the grind, and it's easy to use and provides a nice range of choices from fine to coarsely ground. This peppermill is easy to fill and works perfectly. I'm pleased with the 8-3/4" height as it's a good height to use while cooking, and it isn't too tall to use at the table sitting down. For me, any taller would make grinding pepper onto my plate from a sitting position awkward. I bought this peppermill for myself, but it would be a perfect gift for a wedding or other occasion. The only issue for me was that a plastic insert (that I assume is in the box to hold the peppermill in place) arrived shattered, so I had to pick little plastic pieces out of the bottom and groove for the selector part of the peppermill. But the peppermill is so nice and solid it didn't get scratched, and it was just a minor inconvenience. I think this Peugeot peppermill is top notch and am really pleased with this purchase. Made in France. Update 10/30/2017: My peppermill still works great and doesn’t ever jam even if I select a coarse grind. The only slight oddity I’ve noticed is that the top screw part that I have to unscrew to fill it seems to loosen up on its own, so I find myself needing to tighten it periodically. It’s no big deal, and I’m still really happy with this peppermill.

I could not be happier with this item. It’s shockingly expensive, especially in stainless steel, so I really hesitated. But recently, yet another, lesser grinder gave up and had to be replaced and I decided to stop messing around. Friends that cook told me to invest in a Peugeot. I almost balked when I saw the prices. But after reading many reviews of the various wooden Peugeot’s, I was fairly convinced of the quality and adjustability of their grind. It also seemed clear that many of those wooden versions eventually break along their bottom portions when dropped. They’re just too expensive to have to buy a second one in a single lifetime. So I winced and sprung for the 9” stainless version. I happened to like the look, anyhow. What a beauty it turned out to be, aesthetically and as a tool. The stainless version is light, feels great in the hand, and it’s grinding results really are of a wholly different order. Once you try it you’ll see what I mean. On the assumption that a somewhat less-expensive, wooden grinder would certainly be dropped several times in coming years, I’m telling myself that I actually SAVED money, right? Cannot imagine that this comely, metal machine‘s body will break. And people seem to agree that the mechanism’s are bulletproof. I’m very happy with the purchase, though please don’t tell my buddies what I paid.

I tried to use this grinder past the return date and have found it to not be useable. It does not consistently grind the pepper and it often locks down so tight that it cannot even be used. It took me using a wrench to loosen it up so I could turn it. When it occasionally does grind, it’s fine. But it only grinds properly occasionally, like less than 10% of the time. I would advise to avoid this grinder.

I got this grinder so that I can use it with a specific type of organic black peppers that I could not find in the stores in my area. This is a great product. It looks nice, feels sturdier in hand than most other grinders I have used, is easy to refill and clean, and functions well. There are multiple grind setting (coarse to fine) and I find them very useful. Overall, I am pleased with this product, and my decision to purchase it.

This was purchased as a gift for a family member. The weight of the mill and the metal grinding teeth give it a look and feel of quality. The coarseness of the grind is easily adjusted. My family member says he is very pleased with the pepper mill. He says it is easy to fill, and it grinds well. I think it was a good value for the money, and I will probably buy one for myself when my current pepper mill needs to be replaced.

This is my second Peugeot pepper mill. I was very pleased with the first one. After many years of use somebody dropped it and a piece of the wood broke. This one had good reviews. It was mentioned this was great for course ground which is what I really like. Was a bit disappointed it did not give as course as I was expecting especially compared to my last one. I purchased this salt and pepper mill after looking at numerous Peugeot pepper mills - this particular model appears to be a brand-new model. After looking at many of the different products they had I was a little concerned about reading some reviews of the Peppermill's that are made of wood as they seem to crack at the base so I thought this would be a better option and go better with my stainless steel appliances. Upon receiving the Amazon box there was the sound of peppercorns rolling around in the box after opening the box I realized that the top had become undone and so the small amount of pepper that they load into the Peppermill to test it spilled out into the interior of the box - not a big deal but I'm not sure how that top became unscrewed in transit. In looking at the label on the box it said the peppercorns were from Vietnam so I mediately tossed those into the trash and refilled it with my store-bought peppercorns. It holds about 1 to 1 1/2 ounces of peppercorns which is a fair amount That you select turnout at the base of the peppercorn mail turns very smoothly there are no clicks and it's very easy to adjust from one end to the other. I'm attaching a photo of the finest setting as well as the coarsest setting so you can see you what they look like. The U-Select dial at bottom of the pepper mill turns easily to adjust it with no issues. Having just received this pepper mill I have not used it extensively yet so I will update my review in a couple weeks after using the more I only receive the Peppermill at this time as the salt mail is on backorder and probably won't arrive for a couple more weeks.

Mycket bra saltkvarn, vilket är vad jag förväntar mig av Peugeot! Helt i rostfritt stål, maler i sex olika grader från grovt till mycket fint. Jag har ingenting att klaga på. Viktigt: läs instruktionen och använd bergsalt / kvarnsalt, INTE havssalt. Stiligt att de skickar med en liten påse salt, så om du inte har rätt sort hemma kan du i vilket fall testa direkt. :) Rekommenderas! De negativa recensionerna är uppenbarligen skrivna av folk som inte läst instruktionen och använt kvarnen med havssalt vilket den inte är avsedd för. Om du bara gör som det står och använder bergssalt så funkar den perfekt och kletar inte ihop sig.

Diese Pfeffermühle ist einfach ne WUCHT :-) Sieht toll aus durch ihr Edelstahlgehäuse und funktioniert so, wie sie es soll. Die Einstellung des Mahlgrades gelingt mit dem Einstellring einfach perfekt und lässt keine Wünsche offen- Und ausserdem sind die Renault Mahlwerke die BESTEN auf dem Markt, wie ich schon von vielen seiten gehört habe. Trotz des hohen Preises ist dies Mühle jeden Cent wert. Klare Empfehlung meinerseits!

Sehr schöne Pfeffermühle. Mahlt den Pfeffer von sehr fein bis grob. Leichte Handhabung und einfaches verstellen der Mahlgrade. Wir hatten vorher das gleiche Modell in Holz. Dabei ist am Mahlwerk das Holz abgebrochen. Das kann bei Edelstahl zum Glück nicht passieren.

Bit pricey around $75, but looks classy and does the job - grinds pepper well in different sizes as per the levels indicated. It is very easy to load peppers and perfect for everyday use. I have been using it for around a month to quickly season food. No regrets! Buy!
