This is a brilliant book. It is extremely well written and covers important and exciting concepts in immunology. It is suitable for the interested adult or young person. It stimulated lively discussion in our house when our son picked it up and read it. It's written by a world expert in immunology but is completely accessible to the interested general reader as well.

Most genes are responsible for only one characteristic. Some characteristics rely on many genes. But did you know that one particular set of genes has far-reaching implications throughout our entire body? In each chapter of this book, Professor Davis shares his expert insight into these crucial genes and their impact on one of the body's systems, even discussing their effect on romantic attraction and the success of a pregnancy. Professor Davis also reveals the valiant work of the scientists who elucidated the central role of these genes in the body.
