How long is the actual round door closer? We need a 9" to replace the one on our screen door. Hard to find.

I disagree with a prior responder, Peter Y. I too have a 9" (actual round door closer length) pneumatic door closer that needed replacement. I purchased the V920 version on the basis of the prior responder, informing that a 9" closer would need the 920/1020, NOT the 820. I had to return it (the 920) and subsequently purchase the V820. If the round/tube portion (only) of your closer is 9", you need this product (the V820). It is an exact match (no drilling new holes, etc). The 920/1020 will be (much) too long.

What is the length of the cylinder?

Outside length is 9” The mounting pin locations are 11 1/4” apart Hope that helps

This is for my screen door. It closes nicely to about 3 inches and then slams shut.. what am i missing?

There's a screw on the end that adjustments how fast it closes, I can't remember which way or how much does what, but that's a way to change the way it shuts.

Is the bracket that attaches to the screen door plastic or metal???

It is METAL. The brackets on both ends of the closer are metal (and should be !).....

It slams once its at 5-6 inches from the frame and there is no solution for that.

It slams the door at the end moment. when the door is 4-5 inches away from the frame. I tried adjusting its distance, but it start doing the same after 6-7 closures at any distance. The whole purpose of buying this was to ensure that the door closes silently. I can't fit the one on the top of the door considering my door is little Wobbly from the top, hence adding pressure that point will worsen the frame.
