Can babies splash in the water with their hands while sitting in this product? The picture seems to suggest that there is a barrier there.

There is a mesh screening between the inter and outer float rings which water will pool in and baby can splash around a bit. But it's unlikely that the baby will be able to reach outside the float rings to the actual pool/lake water. Hope this helps!! I loved this product and can't wait to start using it agin this summer!

Do you need a bicycle pump or does it come with its own pump?

No, it doesn't come with one. You can inflate it yourself (by mouth), you don't need a bicycle pump or any other type of pump.

Yes there are holes and I think they are good sized. I haven't had it out yet this year. We had a 9 month old in it last summer and plan to use it again. It is very well made. I wouldn't leave a child in it without standing right next to them in the water. A very active child could lean forward and tip head first. It's made for babies to float, not learn to swim. Great for our 8 month old - will last a while

We used this while travelling to Mexico. It was easy to blow up and use in the pool. These things are always a bit tricky to fold away but after a few practice tries we got it in no problem. Our baby is about 20 pounds and she did sit a bit low in the mesh but I used a hair elastic to tie and shorter her seat and it was perfect. Would probably only recommend for babies that can support themselves and sit up on their own. Great protection from the sun and lots of fun in the pool!!

Sturdy!

This is a fantastic floaty for babies. Super easy to blow up, extremely sturdy and easy to pack up. My baby can lounge back or sit up straight. She loves it and although I am always right there with my baby, I don’t have any fears of this tipping over! Would recommend

Perfect for baby!

I bought this for my 6 mo for a holiday. And it was perfect, my baby loved lounging in the pool. I was also able to secure toy straps to it. Blew up easily and packed back up easily. Was very happy with this purchase!
