Peter Sellers's third go-around as the prideful but bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau is funny enough, but this 1975 Blake Edwards revival of the Sellers-Clouseau connection is a little weak in comparison to predecessors The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark (both made in 1964). Costar Christopher Plummer actually gets some of the most interesting screen time as a retired cat burglar whom Clouseau accuses of getting back into the business. (If it sounds like there might be a To Catch a Thief vibe mixed in here, you're right.) Herbert Lom is hilarious as Clouseau's psychologically eroding boss, and Clouseau's ritualistic collisions with valet Cato (Burt Kwouk) are great examples of Edwards's delicious comic timing. --Tom Keogh Review: Hilarious Movie - This movie is absolutely hilarious. I saw it on TV several years ago and wanted to get the DVD ever since then. Review: Great movie - Great movie

The Old Freezer Ambush Ploy
This film is notable not for being such a great piece of cinematic or comedic genius, but rather for getting Peter Sellers back into the role of Inspector Clouseau after an eleven year absence. This is actually my least favorite of the Sellers "Panther" movies, but even my least favorite of the series still gets four stars. Sellers is brilliant as always, as is Herbert Lom as the long suffering Chief Inspector Dreyfus. Burt Kwouk adds to the cinematic mayhem with many dastardly attacks (including the wonderfully infamous "Freezer Ambush Ploy"), as does Dreyfus' increasing level of insanity. The weak link of the film is the nefarious couple of Christopher Plummer and Catherine Schell, who lack the onscreen chemistry with Sellers seen in the other films of the series. The story is a bit boring through the "Fat Man" bit and in Lugash in general, although the scenes with Sellers in the hotel are quite good, especially the scene with the vacuum cleaner and the parrot. This is a wonderful film, even if it isn't my favorite "Panther". Although the DVD really doesn't offer any special features beyond the original trailer, I still recommend it to any fans of Sellers or Clouseau.

The Best of the Pink Panther Movies
I just love this movie. It is, for me, the best of the Pink Panther series of movies for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it is the funniest and it is Peter Sellers at the top of his game as Inspector Clouseau. It has the best and most cohesive story line. The best locations. It has the best cast. You got to love Christopher Plummer and Catherine Schell, they are just terrific in their roles, as is the recurring character Dreyfuss played by Herbert Lom. It is solid from start to finish, and I play it over and over again. I have all the movies, but this is the one that I pull first when I need a dose. Now, regarding this release by FOCUS features - I have them both - get this version. Make sure that you are buying the "FOCUS" version and not the other one. Because why? I would not call it remastered by any stretch, but it is definitely a far better transfer - image quality wise - than the previous release. As well, there are subtitles in English. I like the option. And these subtitles are well done and accurate. You know, I live in a loud environment, I find it useful to turn them on. Anyway, great movie. When I think Pink this is the movie that I think of first. R.I.P. Sellers, Edwards and Lom.

Great Comedy/So So Transfer
Saw this movie for the first time in more than a decade. It's still one of the great Peter Seller films of all time, where the slapstick comedy is still side splitting fun. It also has a fantastic Henry Mancini soundtrack. The video quality is only so-so; portions of the film are slightly washed out. It's similar to a well used copy a local TV station might use when throwing this on a Sunday afternoon. However, price is right FYI, Shout Factory will release a BluRay Peter Sellers collection in July 2017 of all the Pink Panther movies that he starred in. To my knowledge, this will be the 1st time all the Sellers films will be packaged together.

Sellers was a genius
This Sellers romp has the bar/club scene where he tries to 'seduce' Lady Lytton (played by Catherine Schell) with his hilarious and absolutely expertly timed buffoonery. NOBODY can match him. I know exactly how the scene goes, but I still laugh until I cry every time I watch it. It also appears that in this scene, he actually made Schell lose her cool for a moment, and giggle out of character. It really works for the scene though, and it seems that Sellers and Co thought so too, which is why they left it in. I can only imagine what sort of self-control people needed on the set when working with Sellers. L O L !!!! Another scene of absolute comedic-god-status is when Sellers is 'in disguise' as a telephone repair man, visiting the villa of the Lyttons, where he, while waiting for someone to answer the door, manages to pull the doorbell mechanism completely out of the wall, walk about 100 feet or so backward with the wires extending with him, which he then rolls up into a mess of a ball of wire, and hands to the goon who opens the door, stating, "I yav feexed yourrr bell frrrom ze reng-gheng". I am laughing now! Did I mention that Sellers was a genius ? This should be required comedy viewing for all..... :)

Not as good as...
This movie, while mildly amusing, is not nearly as good as "Pink Panther Strikes Again"

Recomendado. For any fan of the Pink Panther, this DVD is an essential purchase because the film is one of the best of the original Peter Sellers series but is not included in the box set 'The Pink Panther 5 film collection'. The quality is excellent and there is a wide choice of languages for soundtrack and subtitles, including Spanish and English. Recommended.
