A planted aquarium with the mini seeds as starter
When I moved my goldfish from a 10 gallon tank to a larger one, the smaller one was available for me to experiment with a planted aquarium. As I didn't have any experience, I did a lot of internet searches. Here is my setup. I prepared the substrate by adding one to one half inch of Miracle-Gro Organic Garden Choice Garden Soil, covered with half inch of coal slag (Black Diamond). 6/5/2023 I scattered some long hair seeds over the substrate; (I should have sowed the mini leave seeds first!) 6/9/2023 Long hair seeds already sprouted. I scattered some mini leave over the substrate; A 13 watt LED light was put on top of the tank. ….. I sprayed water over the substrate two or three times a day but did not submerge the seeds under water. 6/22/2023 the long hair plant had grown very long and could not stand on its own. I added water to submerge the plants. (photo 1, taken right after adding water) 9/03/2023 all long hair plants had melted by the time, but the mini leaves were thriving. Some other plants have been added. (photo 2) 11/08/2023 Add 6 neon tetra in the tank. (the video taken 11/30/2023) Today is 12/15/2023: The tank has never changed water. Filter has not been used. A heater was added last month. Water parameter has been steady and good. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels are near zero. Maybe thanks to the snails (carried to the tank with purchased plants), the tank glass is clean. In summary, the mini leave seeds are great for a beginner to set up a planted tank. Once it grow taller, it spread on its own. Even without other plants, mini leaves alone make a viable and beautiful planted tank. The long hair grass did not last long, but when it did, it was pleasant to watch it grow. There is no need to dig out its root after it melts out. The bacteria and snails will do the cleaning up work.

This is NOT high quality product
When I got the seed packets, I noticed that there are NO specific (latin) description of the contents - so these are kind of "generic" seeds...who knows what's really in there! Are these grass seeds Eleocharis Montevidensis, Eleocharis Arcicularis, Eleocharis Parvula, Echinodorus Tenellus ... or something entirely different? Who knows? And the low ground cover plants are even more of a mystery. The grass seeds DID grow/germinate, but the seeds were full of fungus/mold spores, which grew nearly as fast as the the grass. The ground cover did NOT grow/germinate at all. And as I read more reviews (which I should have done before purchase) I discovered that some people who DID get them to grow, discovered that they are not really a short (under an inch tall) ground cover, but rather a leafy invasive water weed that grew to 2-4 inches tall. Apparently (as I have eventually learned) the high quality DSM ground cover plants that we expect ARE NOT AVAIBLE AS SEEDS in the market - you have to get them as starts. I am removing my substrate now, and going with a higher quality source. Live and learn! ONE MONTH LATER ------ Both the grass and the ground cover DID grow. I added water when the grass was about 4 inches tall, and the ground cover was about 1/2 inch tall. The grass continued to grow fast and pretty tall - then it turned transparent and yellowish, so I pulled it and planted guppy grass - instead of replanting with grass seeds. The ground cover (some of it) continues to grow, and it is about 2 inches deep now, and extremely thick. But, it is delicate - snails leave trails through it and if i bump it with a tool big chunks float off. It also spreads ALOT - not like a vine, but rather little bitty seeds and/or plants float around and begin to grow everywhere - even on the glass! I have removed about half of it after I had to re-run an air hose under the gravel - it was easier than expected to remove. Bottom line - both of them grew, but after about one month, all of the grass and half the ground cover have been removed,

They're definitely aquatic plants
I was skeptical, but they did indeed sprout. Germination took a couple weeks. I chose to grow the "mini leaf" plants as I saw the grass plants grow quickly and die even faster. The mini leaf plants have been going strong for about 3 weeks. I have a low tech set up. Just a 2.5gal tank with the light it came with, filter & heater. I did not do a full dry start... I should have because they didn't root prior to me adding water, so I have lost a significant amount of them due to floating. That said, what is left is getting stronger and they are beginning to spread a little (I think). The plants will become gelatinous almost instantly when they touch water, much like chia seeds. It did not harm the fish or water quality at all, though it looked weird... But again, if you just dry start like the listing recommends, you wouldn't notice. Do as I say, not as I do
