Any time something is advertised as “hand made leather” I’m suspicious, but this one is a winner! The leather is real, mid weight 5-6oz with suede back, stitching is a saddle stitch, not a machine stitch, which means it was done by hand. I’m sure the leather panels were machine-punched, but the stitching is good. Also, the inside details are pretty messy, there’s a glob of glue inside where the strap and loop are attached, but you can’t see it when the notebook is in- its cosmetic only, no bumps or anything visible through the leather, to me this is another indication this was done by hand (in a hurry, but by hand). The journal insert is a good quality, it doesn’t lay totally flat, but that means the spine isn’t breaking and losing pages either. The pages are heavy enough that ink doesn’t bleed or show through and they are very smooth to write on, even with a fountain pen. Lines are college-ruled, which is nice. I’ve been dragging this through life for about three months and it’s showing zero wear. The leather is picking up some scuffs and dings as you’d expect, but there are no loose threads or stitching coming undone. I journal a LOT so I’m sure I’ll be replacing the insert soon just from filling it up, but the leather cover is going to last a long long time. Definitely recommend this one. I’d have no concerns ordering another for myself or as a gift.

It is as the headline says. Rustic Town has a few other journals, not refillable, but still leather bound that are nearly half the price of this one. But it is well made. Came with instructions on how to care for it too. The paper is SOOOO THICK. I believe its made of cotton. It is truly divine.

I was delightfully surprised by the quality of this journal!! The leather seems legit and is soft & supple. The pages are thick and feel great to write on and I love that it’s refillable! Definitely recommend!!

Pros: Leather cover doesn't seem to be of low quality, just a little thin. Color of the leather is nice and even. it isn't splotchy or dyed unevenly. Weight of paper is nice and has an off white color (more of yellow tint). I like it but if your expecting white then you'll be disappointed. Lots of pages! Size is compact enough to be carried in a brief case but not so compact that it makes it difficult to write in. Cons: Leather cover is thin. I thought that it might be a bit thicker. Only time will tell how well it stays together. Belt closure isn't a tight fit and won't really keep the leather back closed. The replaceable journal inserts are a bit loose, it would be nicer if it stayed in place when opening and flipping through the pages. Overall: I like it so far. as long as it stays together I'd consider buying it again. If the belt closure issue and the way the journal sits in the leather cover was fixed this would be quite and awesome buy! The issues don't impede the use it would just make it a more complete product for what I want.

I love this journal. Bought it for my son and he loves it. It's so pretty and the leather looks to be a great quality! Very happy with the purchase. I own an awards and engraving shop so am anxious to see how it laser engraves his name. Love it when small businesses put a note from them into the product and also care instructions! Makes it special. Great work!

The journal smells amazing, and will be a pleasure to write in. It isn’t an overly weighty leather cover that would make it hard to hold, but still feels sturdy, should hold up well and become very comfortable and personal with use. It comes in a nice fabric bag, has a one year replacement insurance, and it’s purchase contributes to a non-profit organization helping children in Sudan Africa. I am just starting to journal, very satisfied with my choice, and now looking forward to continuing. Purchase this journal with confidence and you will be very pleased with it.

My 1st reaction was negative because of the weight/heft of the leather. (I'd have given 2 stars in that first hour). As other's have mentioned, the leather is thin - thinner than I expected. I also noticed imperfections with the stitching and how the leather is cut; and the design of the journal is very simple. I could have made it myself! After getting over my first reaction to return the journal, I considered that I don't have anything made in India. I have cheap "made in China" stuff but is "made in India" cheap too? I would give the journal a chance. There are imperfections because the journal is hand made and the leather is genuine and looks/feels/smells great. The paper is yellowish but yellow (I think) because it's processed differently - not bleached? I use a fountain pen and I was worried about bleed through and being unable to write on both sides. I found that though the paper feels lighter it doesn't bleed and takes the ink really well. (With other paper, my ink sometimes looks watery when the paper doesn't absorb it well) I enjoy writing on the pages. The leather is already getting wrinkles and scuff marks marking its uniqueness. Last thing I would worry about is longevity. I'm not sure yet if some of the stitching is tied off correctly and will come undone. Also, some of the pieces are sewed/glued together and I don't know if the leather will warp together or get messed up. I think time will tell and for now, I can't dock the rating for that risk. Ok, last last thing. The price is what pushes my rating from four stars to five stars. The paper refill (easily refilled) is about $13 to buy separately, so the leather cover is about $12. I'm not sure I'd be happy paying $25/$30 for this cover alone but for $12 it gets 5 stars!

I am a stationery lover and I know a little too much about different papers. This is perfect and worth the extra price. It’s correctly bound for the type of paper as well. I like it so much I brought a refill. Nothing beats properly constructed paper. Works well with fountain pens as well with no bleeding. Super satisfied, please never stop selling this!

Well made book and the paper is great and thick, very aesthetically pleasing. Only issue is that paper can sometimes be hard to write on with a bad pen due to its consistency, but other than that I'm very satisfied

La cubierta es de cuero auténtico con muy buena hechura, se siente suave y flexible. El papel tiene es muy grueso y tiene un tono crema casi amarillo. La textura que tiene es un tanto extraña, es similar a los papeles hechos a mano, me recuerda un poco al de una servilleta lisa de papel o una cartulina muy porosa. A pesar de la textura, el papel funciona muy bien con bolígrafos, lápices y pluma fuente y la tinta no se absorbe demasiado ni se transparenta. Un inconveniente es que no es de tamaño estándar, así que no se puede reemplazar el papel que trae por un block A5 o media carta, porque no cabe.

Je voulais un livret simple mais qui fasse authentique et il remplit bien sa fonction. Les pages sont de bonnes qualité et agréables au touché.
