Can this be used as a flashlight?

The light on ours is very dim and would not work as a flashlight.

Does this have to be plugged in or does ot hold a charge?

The seller lies. It cannot be recharged via USB. There is no internal battery. They are purposely misleading buyers. I repeat, no internal battery. Therefore, it cannot be recharged. If you plug it in, it can be powered by the wall outlet. But as soon as you unplug it, it will turn off. If your child wants to actually move about and play with it, it will need AA batteries. I don't know why they use the term recharge at all! Other than to be deceptive. I'm very tired of shady Amazon sellers. I don't like being lied to!
