Easy and safe for an experienced diyer
Easy and safe to install. You never actually have to connect to or contact any live wires. A simple ground connection and wrap the inductive antenna on one of the main commercial power legs and you are in service. It works. All forms of power have an induction field around it and this is simply a sensor of that. No problem for a diyer with an understanding of what not to touch in a breaker box. It is LOUD. You can hear it over a generator just outside.

Save Money With This
Works!!!! During a power outage, when you fire up your generator, how do you know when power is restored? You could be wasting generator fuel for hours and hours. It's simple...wrap the "antenna" around the very large incoming power wire in your breaker box and secure with a wire tie or two...do this before the main breaker. Connect the green wire to your ground bar. Install batteries and stick to the wall...the mounting plate slides on/off so you can lift it off the replace batteries. When power goes out, slide the switch to turn it on. When grid power is restored, this will alarm--and it's loud. Turn it off, flip on the master breaker and turn off your generator. I did not need to change the sensitivity setting.

It's LOUD.
Got this alarm to warn when power came back on in an interlocked main panel generator setup. Works very well for the task. When power comes back you will know it, the siren can be heard throughout the house. Being in the same room as it is quite literally deafening until you turn it off. Installation is simple. Mount the device near your panel. Run the antenna into the panel and wrap it tightly around one of the hot legs you want to monitor in you panel. Use a zip tie or electrical tape to hold it in place and tightly coiled. There is a sensitivity adjust if needed, but my setup works fine with the default setting.

Works as advertised
TL;DR: This product does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. Installation was straight forward, but please have a professional do this if you are not one. A wrong or careless move could kill you. - I drilled a hole through the side of my panel to pull through the sensor leads and grounding wire. - Once those were connected, I sealed the hole with silicone. - The included mounting tape was not thick enough to hold, so I used some better stuff I had on-hand. - The device can slide up off the mount plate to facilitate replacing the AAA batteries. I modified this device to work for my scenario: - This is not an "outdoor rated" constructed device, so who knows how long it will last if your breaker panel is outside of your house like mine is. - The siren is small, but loud. Since I installed this outside, I don't want it waking the neighbors if power is restored in the middle of the night. - I removed the siren and replaced it with a bright LED that I could see from my kitchen window. Is this necessary? Probably not--I could just look for streetlights to come on, or listen for my neighbors' generators to turn off automatically, or check the neighborhood social media page. I still like the idea of a gadget like this and figured, for the price, it would be fun to modify and install.

Exactly what I wanted!
For years I had to walk outside to see if my neighbors lights were on, or have a neighbor call me when the power returned. Just for the heck of it I check the Internet to see if anyone made a device to tell you when the main power returned after an outtage. I have an 8000 watt generator that I use, but there have been times when I ran the generator for hours after the main power had returned. I knew there had to be a better way, and I found it here on Amazon. Now I have a device that alarms when the power goes out (like when I'm sleeping) and this to tell me when the main power is back. Now, as far as instillation: I easily installed this device myself, being VERY careful not to ground myself in the process. Remember, you are playing with 220 volts, which will kill you outright if you're not super careful. Some may prefer to have an electrician install this device, so if you're not comfortable around electricity, my advice is to do that. If you ARE comfortable around high power, it's simply no problem to wrap the wire of the device around one leg of the two terminals that come into your electric panel, again being VERY careful. For me, it was a snap.

Don't buy this!
This item is a nightmare to install. The wire that wraps around the incoming power feed, continually tries to unwrap and straighten out, as you are trying to wrap and secure it. Picture attempting to do this inside the electrical panel which in most cases is already tight quarters, and fighting with a wire that wants to remain straight. Extremely poor choice of wire for this purpose. It's beyond me what the person who designed this thing was thinking. Do yourself a favor, choose a different brand, and hope they are a bit more intelligent.

AMAZING and exactly what I was looking for.
I have a whole house backup portable generator and every time the power goes out it seems to be in the daytime. So knowing when power comes back on was waiting on the power company to shoot out a text or email. Very annoying wasting gas when power comes back and there is no way to know. I took my chances and bought this thing. If you don't work around electricity, I DON'T RECOMMEND YOU HOOK THIS UP YOURSLEF. I have been working with electricity for decades, and it still scares me. When I had my new breaker panel installed (by a professional) it has covers over the two-phase wires, so doing this myself was not a huge issue. I very carefully wrapped the sensor wire around one of the phase wires and secured with a zip tie. It took a few weeks before the power went out (again, during the day). I armed the alarm and as soon as power was restored, the alarm went off. It's in the garage above the panel, and it's loud so there was no issue hearing it over the generator. I definitely recommend this. Because of the heat and humidity in the garage, I remove the batteries until I need them. Experience with storing batteries in equipment in hi humidity areas, will cause corrosion.

Power line is different!
Our power line is 220/240 VAC, 50 hz, while the item operates with 120 VAC, 60 hz

A great little alarm!
Does what it needs to do and does it well. Allows me to turn off my generator when the mains power returns.

Super little unit, works great on UK 240V supply.
The instructions in the box say that the max voltage is 120V, although this had not been mentioned in the advert. I guess this is for the USA domestic market reasons. However, before returning it, I tried it on our 240V supply (the UK domestic voltage) and it worked fine. Itโs easy to mount on the wall with the sticky pads supplied. I would have preferred to use screws but this would have required taking the unit apart to use the backplate holes. Once mounted on the wall, installation is very easy. Overall, a great little unit but the supplier could perhaps clarify in the advert that it works on 240V.

Works well, LOUD
Works as intended. It's LOUD like a fire alarm. If you are not comfortable working inside an electrical panel you should definitely call an electrician. The installation is not for the average person.

Works with UK 240v supplies
Does what it says on the tin. Easy to install, just wind the sensor wire around your mains line in, connect up the earth and away you go. Nice loud siren to warn you when the mains comes back online. Saves chewing through fuel on your generator for no reason. Quick delivery from the good ol' US of A.
