DonJoy Performance POD Ankle Brace (White, Left, Small)

I've been shopping around for an ankle foot brace and decided to try this because it's so different from the typical ones. Definitely easy to put on, fits easily (I have a relatively skinny ankle measuring 7 3/4 in with foot size mens 9.5), comfortable and fits inside of shoes. I wear it with a compression sock or sleeve underneath for a good fit. Some regular athletic socks seemed too fluffy or didn't quite stay put as well.Does it work? Depends on what you need... the POD brace allows for a flexible range of motion which makes it great to wear easily with your existing shoes if you're prone to rolling and spraining your ankles but otherwise functional and not injured. But it's not literally bracing your ankle if you have weak ankles. It's preventing ankle rolls/sprains because it limits the possible motion of your foot rolling inwards and keeps your foot aligned. I appreciated that there's still some range of motion so that I could wear the brace without my foot atrophying from being overly restricted unnecessarily.I don't have a sprain in this case however. I have posterior tibial tendonitis and just broke an accessory navicular bone (blah chronic injuries), so no this brace is NOT for my PTTD. I've been searching for something that supports the navicular bone where the posterior tibial tendon attaches in the arch closer towards the heel than most plantar fasciitis options support. This brace fortunately covers that spot and is almost rigid. It makes up the the difference between my navicular bone and orange Superfeet orthotic (for when I'm active) so I have rigid, full contact support right at my problem area. I'm also wearing a compression sock/sleeve underneath the brace so this whole franken orthotic situation gives me the most flexibility depending on if I'm just walking around casually or being active. My doctor was so uninterested my chronic, open-ended problem so I hope this review can help somebody out there.

I waited 3 months to fully test this Donjoy Pod ankle brace. It's been an amazing game changer for me. I have hypermobility spectrum disorder so my joints are easily dislocated weakening my tendons. Had my peroneal tendon removed and have almost no stability against rolling my ankle for the past 3 years.Received my Pod very fast, at first glance was afraid it would be too weak to help me. Upon trying it in, it was so easy to put on, just adjust the underfoot velcro a few times til you get what you need and no need to adjust it ever again. Was able to run, jump, have full flex of my foot and even pivot and not lose control of my ankle once since the day I first put the brace on.Easy for me to forget I even have the brace on outside the fact that I no longer take 10 steps and nearly fall over from ankle rolling. Ankle muscles just keep getting stronger thanks to the range of motion of this Pod.It's profile doesn't seem to do well with "slip-in" type shoes for me, but I just go with regular lace up tennis shoes and it fits perfectly for me.

The best brace my daughter has ever used. She's a setter and hitter in volleyball. They provide great support and peace of mind. They last about a year and a half with constant use. My daughter swears by them.

Uncomfortable

I feel the product did what it was supposed to do as far as keeping the ankle from rolling. The problem came in because it restricted the foot from flexing during straight forward running. This caused the brace to rub on both the Achilles and on the ankle bone. If it didn't cause these rubbing issues, I would not have returned it.

Not a fan. it digs into my bones and actually very hard to wear with shoes. BUT after you get it on with tall socks to protect your skin AND get it to fit inside your shoes then the support is good. Just overkill for me

Best ankle braces for athletes. I am a skydiver and kept spraining my ankles landing on rough terrain. I have put more than 500 jumps on these bad boys (I have one for each ankle) and they are durable. I needed stability but also something with a good range of motion, breathable and comfortable. My feet don’t get too hot wearing them 12 hours on hot Texas summer days and I haven’t sprained my ankle since I started using them.

I was happy to find a product to help my chronic ankle instability, but now I am disappointed that I haven't been able to fit this in to my shoe for walking , this bulky design needs to be considered if you buy this product
