I have just bought the Penn Pursuit IV 8000 and when the handle turns, the bail arm closes.

Hi, could the penn pursuit iv 2500 be used for freshwater spinning with occasional use for sea fishing? thanks

I have the 8000 and use this full time for beach sea fishing, my friend has the 2500 and he uses his for carp and sea fishing. The reels are easy to maintain and clean.

Which size is best for mackerel feathers?

I have the Persuit 4, 8000 and I use this for all of my sea fishing. This reel will handle anything within reason, I've caught small and 20lb fish on it. I think they are very good reels for the money and would think the 111 series would easily do for mackerel but recommend the 8000 for this.
