Worth every penny.
Worked well on a painted jeep 392 top. Drove over 500 miles there and back with rods loaded, no issues. No wear or tear on Jeep or the 1100 worth of fishing gear. Great purchase. Did not want a roof rack as I will be limited on heights in parking garages… this made a lot of sense. Got asked about it 4 times this weekend.

Dependability, quality, and saves time on road to spend more time on water!
Used it with 14 foot Spey rod and fish multiple runs. The rod holder was excellent, easy to use, quickly attached to car and felt very secure with rod while traveling. Best purchase I’ve made with regard to steelhead fishing for as long time. Highly recommend the sumo rod carrier to those who don’t want to waste time, safety of quality fly rods, and wish to spend time on water!

Great fly rod holder

Too Small
This is a well made product. I wish that it had worked for me. I surf fish, and my largest reel is a Daiwa BG 5000, which is not that large for surf fishing. The distance from the rod to the bottom of the reel is about 7 inches, which is approximately 1/2 an inch more than the largest reel that the Sumo will carry. The width of the wings is also on the small side. I would like my reels not bang into each other while driving. I bought a glass mover pair of suction cups on Amazon and built a PVC rack with stainless steel bolts that fills my needs for less than $50.

Quick and easy rod mount
A quick and easy rod mount for vehicles that don't have roof racks. I like that I can move from spot to spot without breaking down my fly rod.

Some of the best money I ever spent
Some of the best money I ever spent. The suction cups work great as long as the surface is dry. Early morning dew should be wiped off completely before attaching to your car. These are ideal for anyone who owns a sedan or coupe and can't fit their rigs inside the cabin. Travelling 60+ MPH on winding roads, I had complete peace of mind and was never worried about my rig's safety. Great product, awesome solution to a bad problem. Only knock I would give it is it doesn't feel all that durable. I don't know if it's ABS plastic or not but if it is, it would be reassuring to know. That said, I don't baby gear and it's they've been holding up just fine.
