Moving Gear Clock

I love the look of this clock. The colors contrasts are great against my off white wall color. Love that the gears are functional (battery operated)! Nice value considering some more authentic clocks with gears are almost $200. Very pleased with this product.

Looks like the $400 clocks for only $60. Cannot find another 24 inch for that good price. nice and big

I've seen several reviews on here about how loud this clock is, and, at first, I was in total agreement with them. This clock has two separate compartments for AA batteries - one battery runs the time piece and two run the gears feature. As soon as I put the batteries into the part that controls the gears, they all started turning and making a faint grinding noise. I didn't think the noise was that bad at first, but if the room is quiet (no TV or music running, nobody talking, etc.), the noise is maddening! I dealt with it for about a week or so, until finally I decided I was going to take the batteries out of the gear part. I walked over to the clock and touched the center gear (the largest one where the time piece pokes through the middle). It was originally spinning clockwise, but when I touched it, I stopped the gear and nudged it gently to start rolling counter-clockwise. What made me think to do that? I have no idea. It's like I became a clock whisperer all of a sudden. When I did that, ALL the gears began going in the opposite direction from what they were going originally, and the noise suddenly stopped. I stood there in bewilderment for a few moments, fully expecting the gears to slow to a halt and then start going their original direction again. That didn't happen. It's over 24 hrs later and all the gears are still spinning in their new direction from what they were originally, but now the clock is 100% silent! Absolutely no noise is coming from it whatsoever. No ticking, no grinding, no squeaking. The time is still accurate, and the gears are still spinning! So give that a try before you deploy option 2, which is to frisbee the thing off a cliff. I took one star away because of the way it was packed. Totally crappy job there. This one that I have now is a replacement because the one before it came smashed in several places. Also, it's a very cool clock, but it's kind of difficult to see the hands from 10 or more feet away because they blend in with the color of the gears.

We looked at many clocks until we found this one. We really wanted one that had moving gears, and this clock is so mesmerizing, I could look at it for hours (no pun intended). The gears don't make much sound, but we took the advice of another review and reversed the motion simply by holding the center gear until it reversed and started going counterclockwise. The hands of the clocks do blend in somewhat but they are shinier than the rest of the clock so we can definitely tell what time it is. And because they blend in so beautifully with the clock, I wouldn't change a thing.

I think this clock was around $80 and I honestly think I would have returned it even if it wasn’t properly assembled. It’s not an $80 clock. I think somewhere in the range of 45-55 would be more appropriate. But that’s not even the biggest issue. My clock came with a screw that wasn’t even installed and when I tried to screw it in I found that there was not even a pre drilled hole. Also the minute hand was basically dropping for lack of better words. So when it spins it hits the gears. The clock looks beautiful but you can tell it’s on the cheaper side when you open the box. The gears are made of plastic and the outer part of the circle is wood. Which is perfectly fine but not for the price. However if the paint was done better it could be more believable that it’s made out of metal but I just didn’t get that when I looked at it. I’m very disappointed because I did think it was beautiful. This item I definitely should have read reviews. I figured it was a safe purchase because of what I was paying for it. Hopefully everyone has a better luck than I did.

I love the style of this wall clock. Very different. It has an old-fashioned, yet, modern look due to the sleek style and color. Needs to AA batteries. The gears spin but the hands do not work.

We got this because of how unique it was that it had gears that actually move. It's a perfect piece for our living room, be prepared for a little noise Because of the moving gears it does make some "white noise", it's not bad though. Also be aware when purchasing this, because of the way it's packaged. The manufacturer packaging doesn't protect the item so well, there are small screws that attach the main unit to the backing. If there's a lot of heavy back to front shifting, the attachment screws will pull out. We had to return one and get a replacement because of this issue. The replacement came quick and was fine.

Love this clock! It looks more expensive than the price. The gears move too which is an added bonus. Great accent for any space!

Les engrenages tournent mais sont purement decoratifs. Peu gourmand en piles (horloge et moteur d'engrenages sont deux circuits séparés,) assez silencieuse (sauf dans une salle sans bruit.

On pourrait avoir une meilleure qualité mais pour le prix... Sinon, pas de soucis de grincement ou de bruits pour nous en dehors d'une seule fois lors du déménagement. J'ai redressé les aiguilles un peu fragiles, une nouvelle pile, posée bien droite et fini... En pleine journée le bruit est quasiment imperceptible bien que si on se concentre on entend le petit ronronnement mecanique (voir vidéo). J'entends plus ma machine à laver au rez de chaussé que les rouages. Bref, on l'aime cette horloge.

The clock looks very good up on the wall. Very light and it has two mechanisms, the clock itself and then the turning cogs. The turning cogs can be turned on or off seperately from the clock mechanism which is good as when the cogs are on there is a little background noise of them turning. Overall a very well built, designed and functional clock.
