This 17th century technology will likely not yet be accurate on its first day, but you can get it accurate to within 10 seconds a day, or possibly better, if you can handle a certain patient task.... The pendulum has an adjustment wheel, which you turn in one direction if your clock is too slow, and in the other direction if it's too fast. Each morning, for several days, on an index card or on the device of your choice, mark down how far off it is that day (e.g. 20 seconds slow, 30 seconds fast) and turn the adjustment wheel whichever way is appropriate, to make the clock a little faster if it's been running slow, or a little slower if it's been running fast. Then repeat that task each morning over a series of days. I've currently gotten mine accurate within 10 seconds a day, and I could probably get it even better than that if I had better hand eye coordination for making precise fractions of a turn on the little adjustment wheel! As for the ticking, it seems quiet to me (I might actually prefer a little bit easier to hear) but if you have excellent years and the ticking is too loud for you, some people keep their clocks in clear plastic display cases, or protected under glass "bell jars."
