A great classic affordable gun cleaner that works well.
Used this for 4 decades, works well, love the smell I'd buy it as a cologne and it's cheap compared to all the new stuff. The only other stuff I'd recommend which also lubes and cleans is Lucas Extreme CLP but it's a lot more expensive and I don't think it cleans quite as well. But it's more convenient if traveling to some training and it's an all in one. But I will always have Hoppes No. 9 as a standard gun cleaner. A specialized copper cleaner for long guns and deep cleaning. A gun cloth for stainless steel pistols and their their cylinder face for lead. Good rods and brushes and bore snakes are really nice too. But for an all around basic and inexpensive cleaner nothing beats Hoppes No. 9. Some of the very expensive ones that I tied over the years were just basic ingredients packaged at an exorbitant price and most didn't clean as well as advertised.

The best!
Quality: Scrubs the guns nicely :) a few passes with the brushes and the carbon/other stuff is gone.Bonus: Smells actually kinda pleasant compared to other gun cleaning chemicals.I'd suggest buying a dropper or something similar with it to avoid using too much cleaning chemical in your cleaning. Use for dripping onto brushes or patch cloths.

Very good stuff
I feel this is a all in one. It cleans and lube at the same time. I don't mind the smell but others might. I will buy again.

I have been using this for years
Hoppe's No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaning Solvent, 1-Quart BottleHoppeโs number 9 has been around since 1903. When I started shooting, this was pretty much it when it came to bore cleaners. Many products came on the market and after trying some, I continued with Hoppeโs No. 9.For my gun cleaning purposes, this remains the best product. I have a compensator for one pistol and it gets badly fouled over time. I just drop it in a pill bottle, fill it with Hoppeโs and let it sit for a few days. The lead dissolves and when removed, I have very little left to scrape off. There have also been many homemade remedies, but Hoppeโs is great at cleaning and dissolving residue. My wife doesnโt care for the scent, but I do not find it a problem. I joked with her that I wanted an air freshener made from it. She does stay out of the room when I am gun cleaning. A bonus maybe? The quart bottle is plastic so, you donโt have to worry about it breaking. The value of getting the quart bottle, as opposed to smaller bottles, is very good

Efficacy
This is a solvent to clean your barrel. The solvent contains kerosene. you may use it on nickel if you remove it immediately then use oil afterwards. In a barrel it cleans any carbon and dirt. It also works good on old barrels with alot of imperfections for example pitting. You apply, then use a bronze brush then temove with a clean patch, apply again and allow the solvent to soak for one hour. Then vigorously scrub the bore woth a bronze brush. Don't be afraid to scrub it if it is an old barrel. 60 passes or more, then soak a patch and rinse the dirt and rust. Then dry patch. Aftr this I like using a synthetic metal remover like boretech to remove the copper. Use the same method this type of solvent requires ine hour to soak aswell. Rinse brush vigorously then wet wipe woth remoil then dry patch. After you wipe clean then apply one rem oil patch wet into the bore for storage. This method is used for neglected barrels or cheap barrels. With a cheap barrel I will add a step and use jb polish then check with a borescope to confirm the polish to a bright shine. Then then follow the previous final step with the rem oil for storage. After you do this, next time you shoot the rifle, you may use the hoppes and a nylon brush for a quick clean. But this is to be used for the next 400 rounds then you will need to again use a copper solvent. Hoppes alone will not remove the copper fouling but is excellent against carbon or pitting, rust and Inside the action where you typically do not find copper fouling. I wanted to explain the way I clean a neglected barrel to give you an idea on where this solvent strongest category is. I added images of a 1943 mosin nagant after using hoppes and also copper removal using bkretexh, alao using a polish then hippes again followed by remoil before/ after images

A classic, a must if you own guns.

I don't think I need to explain this product, as it speaks for itself. Good stuff for the price.
I must laugh, I thought I was ordering the dinky bottle of "Hoppe's 9" and when a package showed up I had no idea what it was until I opened it up, only to realize, I got the LARGE bottle.. which is fine, I am glad I got it and I will use it. As far as I know, there is no shelf life expiration date to this product, as the last dinky bottle was like 12 years old and worked just fine at the end of the bottle. So, this bottle, I will be adding it to my grand children's Living will. so they can hand what remains to their great grand children...LOL.. All jokes aside, the fragrance is always good. does the job of defouling the barrel of lead and copper, when soaking over night with a rubber stopper stuffed in the end of the barrel, pour that out into the last dinky bottle and keep using it, and top off the barrel each time.. rinse and repeat until bottle is gone. Is there better brands or products out there, sure, but, cost effective, smells good, and doesn't bother my skin? I'll stay with HOPPES 9 .... I don't care for change, and habit to how I clean units, also don't want to change that methodology either. old dog, old tricks, or I am just lazy, either or, pick one. lol

Classic hoppes in a bigger size
Bought the 32 oz because for the price I'm always paying for the tiny 2oz bottle it was half the price over time and I cannot find this big of a size, if any, locally. Not sure what the shelf life is like if kept in original bottle but I've never had an issue with other bottles going bad sitting for awhile. I used a funnel to fill an smaller, empty, 2 oz bottle for easier use when cleaning guns. Product arrived on time and didn't have to pay the insane $30+ hazardous shipping fee most others will charge. This has been and always will be my go to choice for cleaning my guns.
