Q: this has both types of flame in the same insert? how do you light one or the other? is it all metal?

When you press down the trigger it lights as a torch, release for soft flame. Close lid to shut it off.This item is a combination of plastic and metal.

Q: How can you get a case for the insert?

Zippo lighters, as well as lighters of the same form factor made by the same company as this insert, are also available right here on Amazon, no need to visit a brick & mortar. Also, a correction to the two "answers" saying out will fight any (non-slim) Zippo. In addition to the slim model Zippo lighters, this won't fit the 1935 replica Zippo lighters either.

Q: Anyone have trouble filling this lighter.? Got mine today but the butane sprays out of the can like it isn't seating good. . I have tried 3 cans

First make sure there is no air stuck in the tank. What you want to do is drain the tank in an upright position and then fill with the insert pointing down. Do that a few times and the air pocket should be removed. Make sure to drain in a well ventilated area, away from any flame. You can try a different butane too. Zippo, Colibri, and Ronson work the best.
