Supposedly these don't work on denim or leather, and you need extra long snaps. yet i cannot find "extra long" anywhere on amazon. what am i missing?

The snaps that come included in this kit would not work on thicker fabric like denim or leather. They work great on thinner fabrics like cotton.

Is the rod and the die that is in the pliers the correct size to use for the snaps Size T5 or do I need to change the die.

A size T5 is also called a size 20 most common ones used. I have bought to sets with snaps and pliers together. Both was already set up for the T5 or size 20. My pliers have to other sizes you can change. But I only use size T5 or 20. I would only buy Kam Snaps and pliers. Cheaper ones do not work as well. Hope this helps .

Will these pliers work with metal rivets?

If the metal rivets are soft like the plastic, then yes. I use grommets that look like metal but are soft. If you are using hard metal then the answer is no.
