Based on the CBBC TV series, Alphablocks is great for encouraging early readers. This pack contains 4 fiction books - 'In a Pit', 'Cat and Dog', 'Get a Pet!' and 'Huff! Puff!' Suitable for children age 4-5. Bug Club Phonics is a Department for Education-approved phonics teaching programme that gives children a strong foundation in phonics. Just FYI that these are British English, and have the kids spell words that I assume are more common in British English than American English, for families in the U.S. who are thinking of purchasing this book set. For example, I had to explain to my child that “din” means a lot of noise, and that the books use the word “fuss” to mean inconvenience or hassle, and not the sound of crying. The other words are more familiar, like “bus,” “pet,” “sad,” and “sit.” Review: Great to practise reading - I bought these books for my 4 years old son to practice his reading while on holiday. Excellent graphics, British English vocabulary
My 4-year-old likes these. For a beginning reader, they are a very manageable short length, with the letters parsed out like “p-e-t” with graphics boxing each individual letter, that allow the child to sound out each word. Just FYI that these are British English, and have the kids spell words that I assume are more common in British English than American English, for families in the U.S. who are thinking of purchasing this book set. Great to practise reading
I bought these books for my 4 years old son to practice his reading while on holiday. He has the same books at school and it helped him practise while off school. Great resource!

Easy for child to start sounding out early phonics
Using books for 3 year old that has started to point to words and say the phonic sounds of letters. These are nice and simple words and words are used in little sentences so child can repeat. Overall a good little introduction set to phonics.

Perfect for early readers
I've been looking for books for my 4 year old to read himself that aren't too complex, build on the foundations of reading and blending letter sounds, but have something of a narrative to follow to make them enjoyable to read. Until now it's been an impossible ask but these ticked all the boxes, and I'll be buying the rest of the Alphablocks series of books. Really impressed!
