Sharp
Very nice working knife for the kitchen. Comes very sharp in beautiful packaging. Sharpens easily with a quality steel and easy to maintain. Very large handle that fits the hand perfectly and allows absolute control of the knife blade and making it safe to use. The knife is nice looking also, very Japanese appearance and where it happens to be made.

Great knife
This knife is my absolute favorite! Great in the kitchen. This particular size is very good for most kitchen jobs. I also got the sharpening wand from them as well, that I use once a week and it keeps my knife sharp.

Very sharp
Very sharp, cut my finger open very easily by mistake. Back of blade could be rounded not come to a sharp point, very easy to cut yourself if you’re not careful. My only issue is the handle isn’t smooth between the different woods.

Quite the bargain for a solid Japanese kitchen knife!
I got this for 30 something bucks on a deal. Frankly I like it a lot more than my Miyabi that I just got. I sliced through an white onion like it was nothing. I appreciate the storage box as I have yet to get a knife roll. If this knife holds up better slicing carrots than the Miyabi utility knife or my Shun Nakiri, this brand will be my go to for replacements. I definitely like this better than the heavier German knifes I had been using before.

Nice gift set, on the larger side of a petty knife
Arrived in a nice wood box, cute gold and black envelope and included bottle of knife oil, which is curious. I'm not sure why there is oil because this is a stainless steel knife not a high carbon. The blade is sharp, the clad pattern is nice and wavy. Hammer marks are nice and not overly deep. Slight issue with the handle. Theres a fingernail width gap on one side and the two pieces could be more flush. The whole knife is on the larger end for a petty knife. Overall its pretty decent for the money.

Perfectly balanced!
I bought this knife and another from their more expensive line at the same time to see which was better. The more expensive one was awful! It was sharp, but lacked balance. This knife is perfectly balanced and super sharp. The handle is attached solidly, with no wiggle at all. It has been able to cut everything I have tried it on, from tomatoes to thick slabs of meat.

It is not japanese, but ok for the price.
1st it is not Japanese. They do an excellent job of trying to trick you that they are. That being said it is a very decent knife for the price. I thought it was sharp, and by US and European standards it is very sharp, But, when I did back to back comparison with my real Japanese petty made from the family that once made samurai swords, no comparison. The real Japanese knife was like a light saber, of course the Japanese knife cost more than 3 times as much. My only reason for buying it was to practice how to hand sharpen Japanese style knifes without ruining my authentic Japanese knifes. Overall its a decent knife and for someone who only uses inexpensive US style knifes this is a step up.

Line cook en
This knife is a great knife for an entry-level into carbon steel/stainless steel knives because it’s very soft and if you use anything abrasive on it, it will scratch but comes out the package sharp. It is very sturdy. It feels great not too heavy not too light and doesn’t feel cheap, it’s wonderful and level knife used it on the line in a kitchen for a week now the black started to come off slightly I can see it fading And it also stains a bit with certain foods, but give it a whip it was fine. I think once keep up with the maintenance of the knife it’s a great knife and should last a long time. haven’t sharpened it yet myself but we’ll see what happens. loving it so far

This knife feels good in your hand... well balanced and a good grip, and it's the perfect size. And of course it's nice and sharp! Comes in a nice wooden box and includes a small bottle of knife oil - so would make a good gift. After using it for a week or so and being very happy with it I have ordered it's big brother for cutting the bigger harder vegetables like pumpkins and large carrots.
