Weathering With You - 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray [4K UHD]

This film is astonishing at every level, from its visual perfection to its unique plot and touching sense of humanity. While some viewers might be drawn to more "mind blowing" plotlines like in Your Name, this movie doesn't rely on any tricks or plot twists to tell its endearing story of a group of characters' battles with personal sacrifices. While its metaphysical elements are ethereal and lofty, its characters' personalities and nature are mostly very down to earth and feel relatable, like ordinary people. It beautifully ties into real world Japanese cultural elements that are educational to viewers, such as customs surrounding the festival of Obon, a Japanese holiday that honors the dead. Some of its best scenes are in its simple earnestness, where humble acts of human kindness and generosity are appreciated for the true feats of everyday heroism they are. One of the most memorable moments of the film for me is very simple gesture that takes place in a McDonald's. The plot follows through much more logically than some of Shinkai's other works and lacks as many definite plot holes. The consequences of characters' actions are very serious, physical, not just emotional, and are deeply explored in this film, unlike many others of this genre that pull their punches when things are looking grim. Its overall moral message is bold and brave and will challenge some viewers. It caused somewhat of a stir among Japanese audiences for pushing against Japanese cultural norms. For me, this film is Shinkai in peak form, taking us somewhere we haven't gone before. I enjoy watching Your Name just as much but this film just edges it out as a better written story. Everything is tied up more neatly and seems more purposeful. It has a clearer moral dilemma and its side characters aside from the main two play bigger and more endearing roles in the story than in many other Shinkai films. Returning fans can enjoy some special nods to other films in the director's repertoire. The music is incredible, particularly the songs "Grand Escape" and "Is there Still Anything that Love Can Do?", which both feature in the film prominently. The English dub captures the essence of the original Japanese cast very well, allowing you to take in all the eye candy if you don't understand Japanese, though as is usually the case with anime, the Japanese cast does embody the roles and emotions better overall. I don't know how you could watch this film and be disappointed unless you are lacking in life experience and take it as a romance film. The moral explorations in this film are far more vast than that and any elements of romance don't even factor into the film's purpose, honestly. Come back to it in 10 years and see how you feel.

I was hesitant at first that I should give this movie a try but I'm so glad I did, even though most Shinkai films have the same "boy meets girl" esque story they're all different in there own way and I think this one is amazing, it made me cry closer to the end and was very emotional. The animation is also beautiful per usual for Shinkai films and the 4K version makes the detail in the animation stand out even more. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of Weathering With You, it would be very nice to see more of these characters.

I purchased this used copy of Weathering With You, and the disc itself works perfectly. Playback was smooth with no skipping or freezing, and the quality was great. It did arrive in a former library security-style case with a magnetic locking mechanism. If you’re not familiar with those, they can be a little tricky to open without the proper tool. That said, the disc condition was excellent and worked exactly as expected. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase.

This is likely my favorite Shinkai anime film! The animation is beautiful and vivid. The storyline is well-paced and the various plot elements fit together nicely. And I loved the protagonists, Hodaka and Hina. They were both so relatable, that I cheered them on as the film's events progressed. I also appreciated that rather than the opposite, their romance was platonic. I could say more, but I don't wish to really spoil the experience for other viewers. In short, I recommend this amazing film to any audience. Whether anime fans, anime newcomers, or even non anime people, who are nonetheless open to watching an anime film. It's a beautiful, heartfelt story of friendship and love!

I've been waiting since January to see this movie when it was in theaters. I wasn't able to see it then, and anxiously awaited it's DVD/ BLU RAY release. Going off of the description provided - Hadoka is a runaway kid who travels to Tokyo. He has no where to go. No money. And no student ID. He ends up meeting Hina. A girl with a mysterious ability to clear up the rain and bring out the sun. Together, Hadoka, Hina, and her little brother Nagi work as a team fulfilling requests from others to clear up the sky. But this mysterious gift comes with a price! Buy this movie to find out the truth behind everything in this movie. Created by the up and coming new "Miyazaki", Makoto Shinkai. Who also created other fantastic movies 'Your Name' and '5 Centimeters a Second'. You will not be disappointed with this movie. It's as stunning as the animation makes it seem!

About the product: It is a nice set, the discs are good and additional material are engaging. No complaints about it. About the movie: After watching it, my initial impression was that it was not as good as "Your Name", the previous movie from director Makoto Shinkai. Most of the reviews do that comparison and even place the movie as really bad, but I felt that those reviews were simplistic and based on comparisons. But I found two reviews that changed my mind, putting the context into perspective. One pointed to the book the main character was reading, giving strong clues to his behaviour; it also took into consideration their age and background, which made the character's actions a lot more reasonable. Another review showed insights into Japanese culture that rendered a more complex and believable frame, with a richness that distinguish bad from good movies. After reading these two reviews, and watching the movie again, I concluded that it is a good movie per se. I have a preference for "Your Name", as most people seem to have, but I will not dismiss "Weathering With You" as a bad copycat of the former, it has content if you look to it with an open mind.

Steelbook che contiene sia la versione DVD che in blu ray in due cd separati. Il film mi è piaciuto, bella storia appassionante e un po' drammatica, tuttavia non raggiunge la bellezza di "your name" che è inarrivabile!

Ce serait bien de dire que c'est une édition italienne sans bande son française ni sous-titres français.
