in-Motion Forearm Crutches for Adults, Spring Assist, 350lb, Charcoal

I love these already. It was past due for me to get some decent crutches and I just got them today and only used them a little bit but I can already tell these are gonna be much better for me. I was nervous about how these were gonna be on my wrist as I have chronic wrist problems but the ergonomic handles actually keep my wrist straight and are so much more comfortable. The spring also relieves the pressure and is a superior design, I didn’t notice it being loud, it definitely adds a sound but it’s very minimal, I will pay attention to if this bugs me more but so far not at all. The arm cuffs have just enough movement to allow me to feel stable while also allowing me to use my hands much more naturally. I will say the box didn’t have the bigger cuffs which I need but I called and they were so nice and shipped out the larger cuffs same day. I will update this review once I have had them a while but so far no regrets would recommend.

I purchased In-Motion Forearm, Spring Assist Crutches after a friend recommended them. I complained about the standard crutches I was provided after an accident and he was like, "Shut up! You gotta get these things!" So I looked them up and started reading reviews. The reviews did NOT instill confidence. People reported the being noisy, cuffs falling off, and for those who purchased the spring assisted models, it seemed some felt it made them more difficult to use. I went ahead and purchased them anyway and I'm really glad I did. They're everything the manufacturer and my friend said they'd be. But now that I have them I understand why some folks complained about these issues. But it's user error - not a product or design problem in my experience. If your forearm cuffs are coming off, you've likely installed them backward and upside down. The open end of the adjustable forearm bracket should face the opposite direction of the handles - or - behind you, and the closest (most closed) point of the opening of the cuffs, when positioned over the handle, should be facing upward. Another thing to note is that these crutches handles or ergonomically designed for each of your hands, so there is a left crutch and a right crutch. They are NOT ambidextrous. If the "fin" of the grip is cutting across your palm it just means you've got the right crutch in your left hand. Switch them and you've be right as rain. Noise? Mine are perfectly quiet. I can hear a little spring action but that's it. Stability is a big thing. These are stable. They include two cuff sizes. You want snug but not tight. If the cuffs are loose stability is going to be a problem. But it's also important to know that you're not going to IMMEDIATELY get the same level of stability out of forearm crutches that you get from standard crutches. It's going to take a little time for your muscles to catch up. A few days should do it but I wouldn't get upset if it took a week or so. Another big part of stability is how you use them. Everything from properly sizing them (your arms should have a slight bend when at your sides. 5º or so is ideal), to taking shorter strides is going to help. Your strides will improve as you get stronger. Another thing I found helped a lot as a new user was the angle of the handles. You'll be least stable with the handles pointing straight ahead, and the crutches will always be more prone to getting bumped if you angle your handles inward toward your thighs. I've found that 45º inward is the most stable and natural position. I live in the mountains. There's only dirt, mud and gravel. I'm completely new to forearm crutches and these have been 1000 times better than the conventional crutches I was using. These look great, they're light and easy to whip around when getting in and out of the car, they're strong and the build quality and materials seem top notch... I'm happy as a pig with mine. I hope this helps others who are new to forearm crutches have a better experience cuz it's absolutely worth the time and effort to acclimate to them. Mine showed up yesterday as I got out reconstructive surgery for my ankle. But I'm also waiting to have surgery on both shoulders. The standard crutches I was using before surgery were so bad on my shoulders I'd basically given up on getting around. Millennial's in-Motion forearm crutches have been an absolute life saver.

I had to write something to let others know how incredibly happy I am that I found these forearm crutches. They changed everything for me as soon as I opened the box. I had Meniscus and MCL surgery a little over two weeks ago and using my crutches or a friends medical cane with a forearm holder, well they both worked, but was not the best. I decided to go online to see if somebody had designed something better for people like me recovering from surgery that needed either one or two crutches or canes and I found these in - Motion forearm crutches and cannot believe they not only work a hell of a lot better than what I had been using but they also had built-in shock absorbers. Was hoping when I got them that they would be cool as they looked on Amazon but when I got them, I was so jazzed because they are better than I expected! The quality is incredible. This is not some cheesy garbage from China. This is super high end .... They go together in seconds..... And for me it changed my life being able to use one or two of them at times and have them give me great support from the forearm holders........ But especially the built-in shock absorbers on the bottom which are set perfectly to the right amount of shock absorption. They also have handles that are conformed to your hands that are so much better than the traditional medical forearm crutch which are pretty lame....and this is huge! I could not have designed anything better and I even called the company just to thank them for designing this product and I told them I'm definitely going to put in a good review for them...... Which is something I rarely do. I'm 5 feet nine and I got the taller ones........ And they fit perfectly. Cannot recommend these enough!!! Thank you in Motion. Broken ankle has had me on crutches for several weeks now, with several more weeks to go. I didn't like underarm crutches (a bit painful and took up too much room in the car; weren't easy to travel with), so looked for forearm crutches. I ended up getting two different kinds: one a much cheaper Big Alex crutch, and this one. Of the two, I strongly prefer the Big Alex option. This In Motion crutch is heavy and the almost-but-not-quite open cuff ends up being overly difficult. I much prefer the open cuff design of the Big Alex forearm crutch, as it requires less guesswork when you're ready to move. (Partly this is also due to In Motion's ergonomic handle, which basically means you have a dedicated right and left crutch, with no obvious way to easily tell the difference without a bit of trial and error.) The pros: it's quite sturdy. The cons: Ergonomic handle is no easier on my hands than the "less ergonomic" handle on the Big Alex, but makes getting moving with the crutch more complicated. Also the spring, which some say adds a lot to their experience, hasn't really stood out to me as making a difference in comfort while walking. What it *has* done, by contrast, is made descending steep steps more difficult to maneuver. The little give in the spring isn't overly welcome on steps, in my experience. I've used these too much to be able to send them back but, if I could, I 100% would. It's not a bad product. It's just $80 more than the forearm crutch that I find much more usable and just as comfortable.

Initially, I was trying to find something that was a match for a pair of $240 arm crutches I found. I liked the look but also that they had more features (springs, handles, etc). These mostly fit the bill visually, seemed higher quality than the run of the mill, and were half the price of the inspo crutches. I've been using crutches and a knee scooter for almost 4 months now and this has been a game changer for me. I don't think I could have started off with something like this, I needed the support of the crutches to rest my armpits on. But now that I'm much more mobile and my hands are stronger, these make moving much smoother. I can easily use the arm band to pick the crutch up while carrying something in that hand and use the other as a cane. When I'm in my house, I almost never use both since speed isn't an issue. Using it as a cane feels much more supportive than the cane I have, too. Not wobbly, love the little pivoting foot/spring. Movement feels so natural with these. I highly recommend these if you're looking for something to use in the long term, once you're doing well with the clunkier old-school crutches. Upgrade. You won't regret it.

The handles are angled properly so that when you walk with the crutches you are not straining your hand. Handles that go straight out aggravate my hand if I have to walk longer distances. The handles are also larger and more comfortable for your hands. The spring in the shaft helps absorb some of the shock of the crutches hitting the ground as you walk. It makes it less jarring and a softer landing. These are heavier than some of the other forearm crutches but they are worth having the extra weight. Light weight alone is not the only thing that matters with crutches. Also the pins that set the height protrude on both sides of the shaft making a more secure attachment of the inner to the outer shaft of the legs of the crutches. The handles can be adjusted to height by lifting the arm ring on the upper shaft above the handle. The comfort is really important because if the handles are not comfortable for walking you will develop hand pain on longer walks. These are really well made crutches and are comfortable to use. I recommend these over some of the others for the reasons above.

First pair I bought were fine. Second pair I bought were horrible. $150 bucks and the cuff comes off routinely on one, causing me to fall and the springs are squeaky, like really really really loud (so loud that everyone looks at me walking with them). This is horrible quality control for such an expensive product and the cuff issue is just plain unsafe. Product should be discontinued until it can be made safe for use.

These are wonderful walking canes. Very sturdy when I walk. I wished it would’ve came in multiple colors. They’re very durable and they’re very sturdy. They’re easy to use and easy to put together. They don’t weigh no more than a normal walking cane. The one thing I don’t like about them is the handle. The handle is very hard and I had to buy pads to go on mine which was added cost. But the shipper was right on time and it seems like a really good company. I will be ordering more products from them. Hopefully in the future, they can fix the handles on these canes to where it’s more hand friendly.

These crutches are worth the extra money!! The shock absorption on the bottom helps with hand and shoulder pain. There are two cuff sizes included. They are made very well. I am moving so much better as a result!!
