Is it 6 socks (3 pairs) or is it 12 socks (6 pairs)?

It's 6 pair (12 individual socks).

Is this 6 pairs or 12 pairs?

I recently bought a 12 pack and what I received was two 6 packs. Which is 12 pairs or 24 socks.
