Can you install UK based apps such as bbc iplayer etc?

Channel 5 and ITV come installed. However you won’t find BBC iPlayer or All4 in the Android TV version of the Play Store. If you search for BBC iPlayer apk in the Downloader app (comes installed) you will be able to “side load” that app and it works a treat just like any app you download from the Play Store. You can download an All4 app in the same way but it’s in portrait mode (made for phones) and you need a mouse app to select things on the screen as it is expecting touch input. However, I have the All4 app on my iPhone and this box has Chromecast built in, and you can cast shows from your All4 phone app to this device. I’ve just tried and it works perfectly.

do you have to log into google or anything when setting up?

Hi Joe - You do need to sign into a google account to install applications, but you do not need to remain signed in to use the device once you have installed the desired apps.
