I'd imagine you might have issues if you're surface is really smooth (you may have to secure it with double-sided tape or something). I had some Scotch double-sided tape on hand, and placed it on the tabletop. I then placed the mouse Pad on the tape, and pressed down on the surface of the pad. It now stays put. There's nothing fancy about this pad except the color but it does a great job and was delivered quickly. I saw another pad in an identical color that was irregularly shaped and I thought that was interesting but it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to arrive. I ordered and got this before the other item came and I've been totally satisfied. The seams around the sides are just a tad thick but they're very sturdy. I think this is a good product at a good price. If I were a gamer I would probably want a larger surface but for me, this size was fine and very practical.
