Victor Power-Kill Mouse Traps, 6-Pack Humane Snap Traps

I've had these for about 2 hours now and have already killed 3 mice. It can be a little bloody at times, so if you are sensitive to that, be forewarned. I tried live capture traps first, but got fed up with having to transport live mice far enough that they wouldn't come back. Quick and effective and very easy to bait and set. I can dispose of the dead mouse and reset it in less than a minute. I use peanut butter and haven't even had to re-bait them so far, as the mouse doesn't even have a chance to eat it. So much better than glue traps, which honestly feel cruel as they don't die right away. Better than poison, because if you've ever had a mouse die in your wall, you will never forget that smell. Definitely a new improvement over the old traps and would recommend 100% if you have a mouse issue.

These traps are easy to use and set. The design is excellent and the snapping action is so powerful it will cause the trap itself to launch about 8 inches in the air. When I first started using these traps, I was putting peanut butter in the bait holder and would occasionally catch something, but a lot of times I would find them with the peanut butter licked clean from the bait holder. Mice and rats are smart, skittish, delicate and can be very stealth... but they're also greedy. Here's the bait trick: cut off a chunk of an irresistible (extra) chewy sweet gummy candy (I use twin snakes) and use a hot glue gun to glue the chunk of gummy candy into the bait holder. The mice and rats can nibble and chew at it, but eventually they will have to bite and pull at the gummy bait to try and take it all, and they end up using their legs on the trigger for leverage. it works like a charm. It's a perfect, quick and humane instant "money shot" every time. You also don't have to rebait the trap as often with this method. Then you just grab the back of the trap, and with a swinging motion and your thumb on the back bar used for setting the trap, release the dead rodent into the bushes, reset the trap and place it back. fast, easy, and effective.

When it comes to rodent control, I generally like to deter and close off entrances rather than kill unless pests are indoors and/or causing destruction. Short version: If you want to be rid of mice, use a snap trap. Don't use a glue trap - a quick death is better than them suffering trying to get loose. Load this snap trap with peanut butter and *wham* the job is done overnight. Longer version: For a couple seasons I had field mice and squirrels getting into my Weber grill and feeding on the interior grease pan despite have a grill cover. I bought some chicken wire type screens and bolted these to the grill frame basically eliminating most entrances. This worked for the squirrels, but crafty mice found a way to climb inside the grill using the grill cover, moving across the shelving and through a very small opening. I grill every 2-3 days so I'm constantly checking for droppings. I tried my cinnamon oil deterrent (great for bats) and that didn't work all that great for these critters. I kept them around too long fiddling with deterrents that they chewed through my ignitor wiring, which had to be repaired (and eventually replaced). Now fed up with them I got these snap traps and they were easy to use without risking pain to yourself. Load with peanut butter and overnight these caught four (over two nights.) Eliminated the issue. If I see more droppings inside, I will load these with PB again and move on. I deduct one star for it's plastic build, unsure of durability, but it's holding up fine. After a mouse dispatch, I spray the trap off with a garden hose and dry in the sun. I have no issue re-using these.

We live a pretty rural area so mice are just something we have to constantly keep up with, its a way of country life! I recently stocked up on some new snap traps as we have had a bit of an explosion of mice activity around our property. First I tried the Victor old fashioned wood base metal trigger - they are just set too tight...had multiple nights of all the traps licked clean of peanut butter and none of them went off! That is SO frustrating. So decided to return those and try something else, happened upon these, looked interesting and thought I would give them a try. OMG! love them! First off setting these things is awesome, so easy! No hair-pin triggers to try and hold to have it snap closed just when you think you have the little bar set under the trigger. These have a 2 bar system, so you literally just push the rear bar back until it catches in the trigger on the back, let go and its done. The front bar raises up and that's what snaps closed on the mouse, so you don't have to touch that bar at all which is awesome. When you clean out the trap of the dead rodent, you again just push the rear bar back and the mouse falls out. I always hated cleaning out the other ones cause you have to touch the bar that's holding the dead mouse, kinda gross, they carry a lot of diseases so I don't want my hands near them. These let you do the setting and cleaning with the rear bar making it so much easier and sanitary. The paddle and bait portion are equally well thought out. The mouse has to stand on the paddle to get to the little hole in the center with the bait so its pretty much guaranteed to go off if they try to get to the bait. The traditional wood base traps they can stand off to to the side and eat the bait without having to put any weight on it, so they often get the bait and don't move the paddle enough to trigger it to snap closed. All in all these are an 11 out of 10 - they work awesome! Setting, Cleaning and kill rate....best mouse traps I have ever had. Looking forward to actually catching some mice and keeping the population under control.

These really work! I like how there is a little hole for you to drop bait into for easy setting. No need to touch where the last mouse was. The extra lever makes this the easiest trap to set that I've ever used with it being virtually safe from accidental tripping (plus, once again, no need to touch the mouse end). These things snap down way harder than I expected. I've had mice survive standard mouse traps, but no mouse is surviving one of these. If a mouse did manage to survive (which I can't see happening), there is no way they are wiggling free with the serrated edge. Though these are more expensive, they will pay for themselves seeing as I will actually reuse these due to the easy release.

These kill mice perfectly. Like other similar designs, they are a bugger to reset. Once you figure them out it's not bad, but the reset is a pain in the butt more than what it should be. I got these bwcause I dont want to touch dirty traps and I end up having to do it anyway on the reset. These Victor traps are good quality but just like three other brands that have the same design, the reset stinks.

So here's the deal with mice. You wake up one morning and there is mouse poo in your kitchen. This is not acceptable. You immediately realize a silent war is about to take place. You need a mouse trap. Well, there are many types. I liked the idea of the wooden dollar store Victor traps, because they're still made in the USA (awesome) and you can just toss them, dead mouse and all. Great. The problem being the basic cheap wood board traps are extremely finicky to set, without getting popped in the finger. Ouch. The kill to wound rate is also too high. The spring force isn't enough to do it correctly. And now we're here, to the Power-Kill. Made offshore, which is a negative. C'mon Victor, you can't make a plastic mousetrap in the USA? That being said, these are 'the' trap to use. Super quick and easy to set the spring, a small cup to put the bait into (use peanut butter and some Elmer's school glue) 95% kill rate. That being said, you also need to figure out why and where they are getting into your house and fix it ASAP. We had to saw a piece of custom plywood and install it behind our kitchen stove. A mouse highway they were coming in through. That stopped it. In the meantime these traps worked fantastically. Don't use glue traps. Those are the most inhumane saddest thing I've ever seen. Strong snap traps like these are the most humane because they immediately kill. They are also re-usable if necessary.
