Why is there no white color the iPhone 12 Pro Max has one

Do the raised edges protect the screen?

They definitely will protect the corners and would most likely protect the screen in the event of the phone falling because of the raised edges. But of course, it’s open at the top so there is still a possibility of not 100 % protection.
