Wow, it was not fun installing on a 2013 Ford Fusion. Had to take off a lot of panels to remove the tray where the cigarette socket was. However, I'm not very good at that sort of thing, but if you have moderate to great skills in doing something like this, it should be easy for you. I have not tried the pass-through to Android head unit yet. I have not set up a USB connection in the software on the unit. The charging portion works fine....nice fast charge . It's very convient to have another charging position option in the car. Now several people can charge their devices simultaneously. Fit perfetly into the old lighter opening. I was glad it had a locking nut/ring to go on the charger. So, I'll let you all know how this works out with the passthrough option on the charger. Oh, the cord length. No problem because the head unit had a long enough cord to connect to the charger. If it's too short for some folks, just buy and extension...

I installed this in a wrangler jku to use android auto with a new alpine radio that I also installed which had the usb cable stuffed in the glove box.. I placed it where the oem cigarette lighter was. Very easy to install. And works as advertised.

Amazing item. I this is the item you want if your aftermarket stereo has non-wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, then you would use this item to hardwire connect to use CarPlay or Android Auto (with the bonus that this item also has a rapid charging USB Type C port). I have a 2008 Pontiac Vibe (rebranded Toyota Matrix), and I recently installed a new Alpine stereo, which has Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity, but only hardwired connectivity via a provided USB Type A cable that came with the stereo, which attaches to the REAR of the stereo. I wanted the USB cable to have a factory look to it, so instead of having the cable connected to the rear of the stereo, and then the other end of the cable (the end which connects to my iPhone) poking out of or dangling out from bottom of dashboard, I replaced my existing 12v power socket in my dashboard with this AWESOME adapter. The USB Type A port in this adapter now connects behind my stereo to the USB cable which is connected to the rear of my Alpine stereo, so I now am using Apple CarPlay, while simultaneously charging my phone through that same USB Type A port (the Alpine stereo charges the phone through that same USB Type A port, while at the same time providing Apple CarPlay connectivity). The second port on the front of this adapter is QC3.0 (Quick Charge Version 3.0) USB Type C, which I powered by wiring by the + and - wires from the old 12v power socket (cigarette lighter) wiring. This is amazing, as all of my devices can now be charged by this adapter (USB Type A devices, as well as USB Type C devices). It fit in the 12v power socket (cigarette lighter) hole perfectly, and looks 100% factory. Could not be happier. Thank you Scosche for making such a hard-to-find item that was exactly what I needed! NOTE: Only the USB Type C port in this Scosche product will be hardwired for charging power. The USB Type A port in this Scosche product will only charge your device if connected to a car stereo that has USB Type C connection (car stereo will charge your device through this port if car stereo has USB), or if connected to another USB that is already powered. Lots of negative reviews did not realize this before they purchased it.

I changed out my radio in my truck with a CarPlay compatible radio which has 2 usb ports on the back of the unit so since my truck had 3 lighter ports I bought 2 of these to replace 2 auxiliary ports with actual usb for charging phones instead of having to use an adapter. The conversion went well and they were easy to install just had to drill out my cover a bit using a step drill bit to make sure they were the perfect size. These have both usb a and usb c ports, however the usb c need powered by 12 volt source so I used the power leads that powered my auxiliary lighter ports and put spade connectors on them with heat shrink water proof connectors and they preform very well. Makes for a very clean professional looking setup however I would have liked then to be back light so you could see the ports in the dark but not a big deal might install a led light that shines down on the port area as long as I can find a dim led that won’t put out a large amount of light more of an accent light but these were a great addition to Modernizing my old trucks and bringing them into the 2020 era.

It may seem a little more expensive, but would you rather pay 1/2 as much for something that does not work and can short out your aftermarket radio? I bought a cheaper product and my aftermarket radio setup did not work. After serval hours of debugging I found that the cheap part that I purchased prior to this product was the problem. Instillation was a breeze and took only 15 minutes and everything worked. Bottom line- it is worth the few extra dollars.

A bit pricey but it works as advertised. Now regardless if the phone we plug into the aftermarket radio has the older USB type A or C they hook right up as you would expect them to. Can't complain when they do exactly what they should overall!

Installed this in my 04 STI in place of the cigarette lighter. Works great with my Sony 6000 headunit.
