These work really well keeping the tank from getting slimy. I think some poor reviews are because people think they are a substitute for cleaning the tank. You still need to clean the tank regularly! A small but necessary job . . .

These little doohickeys actually last a lot longer than the manufacturer states. We kept one in both of our humidifiers for years and never had any indication of mold or mildew. There are others that look like these things, but you need the ones that are made with silver. We only replaced ours because we replaced our humidifiers after more than a decade of use. I can't say yours will last that long, nor can I recommend you never change them. I can say they work great.

Got these as I was finding goopy stuff in my humidifier water. These work perfectly - keeps the water (and the filter!) clean.

Cleaning the humidifier tank is one of the most dreaded chores in my house, because it is the kind of thing we don't think to do until we are crawling into bed. These cartridges definitely reduce the need to clean the tank, by about half, and also keep the humidifier filter from looking gross as fast. They are a little pricey, but I think each one will work a little longer than the recommended one month. I think we have used the first one for about a month and it still seems to be keeping our humidifier clean. I wish I'd found them sooner because in the long run they'll keep me from having to change out the even pricier humidifier filters as often.

I have purchased these several times in the past. I personally don't think any of these work 100% but this brand has never given me any issues.

These are easy to use and I would have to believe they do what they are supposed to do.

My humidifier is structured so that the fan housing unit floats on water and the cleaning cartridge interferes with its flotation. I’ve had it in the humidifier for one month and so far the water is clean without older and no signs of mold or contamination.

This was one of the best investments I ever made. I bought a new humidifier, a Honeywell with outstanding reviews, and the filter gave me trouble. In a little over a week it smelled mouldy in a really foul way, and within 2 weeks the filter literally fell to pieces in my hands. These are expensive filters to last such a short time. I changed the filter and bought 2 ProTec balls, one for each tank. It worked like magic! No smell, no moldy discoloration. These things are wonderful! If you're sitting on the fence, jump off it! Run and buy one of these things right now!

Works great, keeps humidifier bacteria free.

I thought when you use this thing, you don't need to clean as often, but I found that there are orange water stain and some black stains building up after a couple of weeks. I would rather use bleach and vinegar to do cleaning and s disinfecting weekly. I will not buy again.

It might seem to work the first two or three weeks, but soon the mineral and bacterial buildup would come back in full force.
