No, it doesn't. The magnet is thin so it still sticks to round bars fairly well. Even thou it's thin, it has a strong magnet that holds it in place.

Q: I bought this unit and did not realize it was for 3/8" stems. All my dials are 1/4" stems. Is there an accesory i can buy to convert this?

Use Starrett PT00764 split bushing to convert from 1/4" to 3/8".
